The Regulatory Compliance in the Residential Lending Cycle course provides background about the business of mortgage lending that a compliance professional needs to be successful in his or her role. Understanding key concepts in mortgage lending, such as the flow of money between the primary market where loan production occurs and the secondary market where loans and mortgage servicing rights are sold, is critical to understanding compliance issues and legislation. In addition, knowledge of the business of loan production and loan servicing helps compliance professionals understand the impacts of regulations and support their partners in the business lines.

This course begins with a high-level look at the mortgage loan lending process through the entire life of the loan and highlights the regulatory compliance responsibilities in each phase. The course then looks at loan production and loan servicing in detail and explores how regulatory compliance affects marketing and advertising; origination and application; processing; underwriting and disposition; closing and post-closing; and servicing. The course concludes by identifying laws that are not specific to any particular phase but cover the entire loan life cycle.

This is a single-family/residential course.
