MBA Honors William Ross with 2017 CREF Distinguished Service Award

WASHINGTON, D.C. (February 21, 2017) - The Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) today awarded William Ross, President of NorthMarq Capital, with the 2017 Commercial Real Estate Finance (CREF) Distinguished Service Award at the Association's 27th annual CREF/Multifamily Housing Convention & Expo held in San Diego, CA.

"William has been a superb leader and tireless advocate for the commercial real estate finance industry said Rodrigo Lopez, CMB, MBA Chairman and Executive Chairman of NorthMarq Capital. "This award is a recognition of his many accomplishments and notable success."

Ross has a history of active support of MBA Education programs, including Commercial/Multifamily Future Leaders and the new Commercial Loan Origination Sales Training course. Ross has been a strong advocate for MBA among life company members, an active member of MBA's Commercial Board of Governors (COMBOG), and recently chaired the COMBOG Nominating Committee.

Ross joined NorthMarq Capital in 2009 and has been associated with the mortgage banking business in Dallas since 1976 when he began his career at Bright Mortgage Company. In 1989, he was a founding principal of Keystone Mortgage, which in 2001 was sold to Capmark Finance (formerly GMAC Commercial Mortgage). As executive vice president at Capmark Finance, he managed the company's nationwide mortgage banking network.

Ross is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and has a Master of Business Administration degree in finance and real estate from Southern Methodist University. He is a licensed real estate broker in Texas and previously served the executive council of the real estate finance and investment center at the University of Texas. He has also served on numerous life company correspondent advisory councils including Aegon USA Realty Advisors, Allstate Insurance Company and Nationwide Life Insurance Company.

Nominees for the CREF Distinguished Service Award must be associated with an MBA member firm, have a record of sustained and extraordinary service to MBA and the commercial/multifamily real estate finance industry, and possess a strong reputation of ethical and professional conduct. This award is the highest honor an individual can receive from his or her fellow MBA members.
