Government Housing Finance Programs

The housing finance programs operated by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA), the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the Rural Housing Service (RHS), and the Office of Public and Indian Housing (PIH) account for a significant share of the single-family market, particularly for low- to moderate-income households and traditionally underserved communities. MBA advocates for clear, consistent guidelines and program requirements that encourage greater participation by both consumers and lenders. MBA also advocates for these federal programs to receive the funding and resources that are necessary to maintain efficient operations and strong risk management.
