    This year’s opening session features renowned professor of Urban Development, Michael P. Buckley, who  will delve into scenarios for re-purposing vacant or underutilized land within the Urban cores of  Dallas / Ft. Worth metropolitan areas. Professor Buckley will share insights into corporate sponsorship of urban mixed-use development, importance of strategic industry clusters, impact of swiftly-changing demographics, and benefits in new tax increment, and new urban residential and workforce choices from high-density development.

    Crystal is a graduate of Texas A&M University. She began her career at Banc One Mortgage Capital Markets in Houston, Texas in 1996. She spent several years closing commercial mortgage loans before she began working for Argus Software, thereby learning the analytical side of the real estate business. In 2001 she moved to Michigan and soon thereafter began her career in commercial mortgage servicing with Bernard Financial Group. She is a graduate of the MBA CCMS designation. She currently oversees the Servicing Department at Bernard Financial Servicing Group with a loan portfolio in excess of $2.5 billion.

    Lillian Fahr, CCMS , Director, Head of Defeasance , Wells Fargo Bank, N.A.

    Lillian Fahr is a Director and Heads up the Defeasance Group at Wells Fargo. Prior to this role, she was a Director in Asset Management and lead an Asset Management Team in the CMBS Servicing Group working with securitized, conduit deals. Lillian also spent two and a half years leading a team in Tax Credit Asset Management (TCAM) working with low income housing and historic properties that earn the bank tax credits. Prior to this role, Lillian spent five years as a Portfolio Manager in the CMBS group.   Before joining Wells Fargo/Wachovia/First Union, Lillian was with Deutsche Bank on the Trustee side for four years. Overall, Lillian has 19 years of Commercial Real Estate experience, which includes 15 years in servicing.  Lillian is an active member of the MBA and was part of the first graduating class to receive her Certified Commercial Mortgage Servicer (CCMS) Certification from the MBA. She currently serves as chair of the CCMS Committee. Lillian earned an undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Washington in Seattle. She lives in Charlotte with her husband and four children.

    Rodrigo López, CMB , 2016 MBA Chairman-Elect, Executive Chairman, NorthMarq Capital Finance

    Rodrigo López serves as MBA’s Chairman-Elect and is the Executive Chairman of NorthMarq Capital Finance, a mortgage banking company dedicated to providing capital solutions for the multifamily industry. Rodrigo has been actively involved with MBA for almost three decades. He is a former Chairman of MBA’s Commercial/Multifamily Board of Governors.  He has served on the Association’s Board of Directors since 2009, along with a previous stint on the board in 2003 and 2004. Rodrigo received MBA’s Distinguished Member Award in 2010, MBA’s Burton C. Wood Legislative Service Award in 2002, and MBA’s Master Faculty Award in 2000. He also received MBA’s Certified Mortgage Banker designation. In addition to his work with MBA, he presently serves as Director of Mutual of Omaha Bank, Chairman of the Omaha Children’s Hospital and Medical Center Board of Directors, Chairman of the United Way of the Midlands Foundation, Director of The University of Nebraska Foundation and a member of Habitat for Humanity of Omaha’s Advisory Council.  The Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce awarded Rodrigo the “Big O! Excellence Award for Minority Business of the Year” in 2013 and the “Volunteer of the Year Award” in 2011 in recognition of his superior service and dedication to the Omaha community.
