    DeAnne Reed is an Assistant Vice President in the Real Estate Investment area at Pacific Life Insurance Company.  She joined Pacific Life in 1998 and overseas the Portfolio Operations and Pacific Life Construction Loan Management teams.  Under her direction, Portfolio Operations is responsible for a wide variety of services including new loan setup and release, billing, IRS annual reporting, UCC filings and continuations, document control/file management as well as insurance, escrow, reserve and cash management.  The Pacific Life Construction Loan Management team provides client services, transaction analysis, construction loan administration and property inspections for the Pacific Life construction loan portfolio.  Her team is also responsible for the oversight, leadership and business direction for the mortgage loan system.  Ms. Reed graduated Cum Laude with a B.A. degree in organizational leadership from Chapman University.

    Shelley Hasskamp, CCMS, Senior Vice President, Bellwether Enterprise Real Estate Capital, LLC

    Shelley Hasskamp is Senior Vice President for Bellwether Enterprise and is responsible for Asset Management on the Life Company Portfolio.  Shelley has over 30 years’ experience in commercial mortgage banking and served on the Asset Administration Committee of the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) for three years, serving as Chair of the committee in 2003/2004.  In 2013, Shelley earned the MBA’s CCMS designation.  Prior to joining Bellwether Enterprise, Shelley was Vice President and Senior Portfolio Manager for Grandbridge Real Estate Capital LLC. Ms. Hasskamp joined Grandbridge in 2012 with the acquisition of Dwyer-Curlett & Co., where as a partner and senior leader of the company, she was responsible for overseeing all in-house loan closings and the loan administration department, as well as additional administrative responsibilities.

    Adam Fox, Senior Director, Fitch Ratings

    Adam Fox is a senior director in Fitch Ratings’ U.S. CMBS group. His primary areas of expertise are commercial mortgage servicing and U.S. CMBS. Adam is currently responsible for Fitch’s North American commercial mortgage servicing group and leads a team of three analysts covering approximately 45 commercial mortgage servicers. In addition, he maintains an active role in new issuance and surveillance CMBS rating reviews as well as European servicer evaluations.

    Prior to his current position, Adam led a team of five associates who perform CMBS surveillance and authored a variety of research and criteria reports.

    Adam was previously director of data management at CRIIMI MAE where he spent seven years. During his tenure at CRIIMI MAE, he worked with the investor reporting, master/primary and special servicing groups before moving to information technology where he was responsible for the development of servicing and reporting software as well as data management for the company.

    Adam earned his BBA in finance and international business from Marymount University. He is also an active member of the Commercial Real Estate Finance Council and Mortgage Bankers Association.

    Amr Fawzi, Director, Credit Risk Management, Fannie Mae

    Amr Fawzi is a Director of Credit Risk Management at Fannie Mae, responsible for Partner and Portfolio Surveillance within the Asset Management area for the performing loan portion of the Multifamily book of business. Amr has been at Fannie Mae for 15 years, where he has held multiple positions. Prior to that, Amr has over 20 years of experience in Multifamily and Single Family Servicing and Asset Management as well as Equity Asset Management.  Amr’s background includes experience at Lazard Asset Management, the National Cooperative Bank and EFG-Hermes.

    Brian J. Shoch, CCMS, Senior Vice President, Berkadia

    Brian Shoch holds the position of senior vice president and managing director within the Services division at Berkadia Commercial Mortgage LLC.  As a member of the Senior Management team, Mr. Shoch’s primary responsibilities include leadership and oversight of Client Relations, Special Servicing and Asset Management and the Borrower Consents teams across the United States and India.  Mr. Shoch focuses on Berkadia’s Agency, CMBS, Proprietary and Fee for Service relationships which comprise its $240 billion servicing portfolio. Mr. Shoch serves as Berkadia’s Chief Asset Manager for Fannie Mae and is a member of Freddie Mac’s Servicing Advisory Council.

    Mr. Shoch has thirty years of mortgage servicing experience, the last twenty-five of which have been focused on commercial real estate. Mr. Shoch previously held various staff and management positions across Berkadia and predecessor company’s servicing platform. Mr. Shoch attended Thomas Edison State College with a focus on Business Management. As an active member of both the Mortgage Banker Association and CREFC, Mr. Shoch has participated and/or chaired numerous committees and task forces.   Additionally, Mr. Shoch achieved the MBA’s CCMS designation in May of 2017. 

    Glenn Gilbert, Director, Wells Fargo Bank, N.A.

    Glenn Gilbert is a Director and Team Lead in the GSE Select Client Asset Administration group within Wells Fargo Commercial Mortgage Servicing (CMS). Mr. Gilbert has been with the bank for 24 years and is based in Charlotte, North Carolina.  This group manages high exposure multifamily relationships financed through various Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac loan programs for the bank. Prior Wells experience includes CMBS Asset Management of all asset classes and large Single Asset Single Borrower securitization portfolio management.  In addition Mr. Gilbert managed Audit and Compliance teams within the CMS and legacy Wachovia and First Union platforms. Prior to joining Wells Fargo, Mr. Gilbert spent 5 years at the Bear Stearns Mortgage Capital Corporation in the Residential MBS Master Servicing group. Mr. Gilbert graduated from the University of Maryland and is co-chairing the Mortgage Bankers Association Commercial Asset Management Round Table forum

    Charles Scott, Director, Surveillance, PGIM Real Estate Finance

    Charles has over 18 years of experience in both commercial mortgage servicing and origination.  He joined Prudential Asset Resources in 2010 and currently serves as a Director in the Asset Management group.  His team is focused on the collateral performance of PGIM Real Estate Finance’s $95B commercial real estate portfolio (domestic and international assets).  Responsibilities include the oversight/management of financial statement analysis, inspections, deferred maintenance, watchlist management, loan covenant monitoring, portfolio valuation and quality ratings.

    Brian Hanson, 2019 Vice Chair, MBA Servicer Council and Managing Director, CW Capital Asset Management LLC

    Brian Hanson joined CWCapital in February 2006. His responsibilities are focused on maximizing strategic relationships with clients and business partners of the firm and its affiliates RealINSIGHT and RealINSIGHT Marketplace as well as industry constituents. From 1996 to 2003, before joining CWCapital, Mr. Hanson managed the primary and special servicing and asset management functions for CRIIMI MAE’s $19 billion commercial mortgage portfolio. Prior to CRIIMI, Mr. Hanson served as Chief Operating Officer and Portfolio Director for JCF Partners in Lanham, MD, overseeing their $1 billion real estate portfolio. Prior to joining JCF in 1991, Mr. Hanson was Vice President of secondary marketing and syndications for a financial institution and its wholly-owned mortgage banking subsidiary. 

    Mr. Hanson has lectured at various universities, including Harvard, Columbia, NYU, Wharton, Maryland and Johns Hopkins, and has had speaking engagements for the Mortgage Bankers Association, Commercial Real Estate Finance Council (CREFC), Fitch Ratings, Standard & Poor’s, the Appraisal Institute and various other trade associations. Mr. Hanson holds a B.A. in mathematics from Washington and Lee University.

    Ted Merkle, Senior Director of Strategic Transformation, Freddie Mac Multifamily

    Ted Merkle is Senior Director of Strategic Transformation for Freddie Mac Multifamily. In this role, he is responsible for strategic change, communication and customer experience for the organization’s digital transformation and other strategic initiatives.

    Prior to his current role, Mr. Merkle held several positions in Freddie Mac Multifamily including Senior Director of Servicer & Client Management where he managed customer relationship and insurance compliance activities. He also managed a team in Asset Resolution and served as an Underwriter in Freddie Mac’s Southeast Region.

    Prior to joining Freddie Mac in 2004, Mr. Merkle was an Asset Manager at CRIIMI MAE (now CWCapital). He was responsible for developing and implementing modification strategies and managing servicing duties for a portfolio of CMBS loans. 

    Mr. Merkle began his career in banking and holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Maryland at College Park.

    Alan Kronovet, CCMS, Head of Commercial Mortgage Servicing, Wells Fargo Bank, N.A.

    Alan Kronovet is an executive vice president and the group head of Wells Fargo Commercial Mortgage Servicing. Based in Charlotte, North Carolina, he leads more than 1,000 team members, primarily located in Charlotte; the San Francisco Bay Area; greater Washington, D.C.; New York City; and Bengaluru and Hyderabad, India. Commercial Mortgage Servicing serves clients throughout the United States, including individual borrowers, institutional investors, financial institutions, internationally recognized investment banks, and other third-party investment groups. Alan has extensive experience in all aspects of commercial real estate finance, including loan origination, securitization, and servicing and asset management.

    Previously, Alan held an executive role at Fannie Mae, where he was responsible for leading the Multifamily Mortgage Operations group. Before Fannie Mae, Alan worked at Wells Fargo, Wachovia, and First Union for 14 years in various commercial real estate roles, most recently in commercial real estate loan servicing and asset management.

    Alan is a member of the Mortgage Bankers Association of America (MBA) and Commercial Real Estate Finance Council (CREFC). He has served as the MBA Servicer Council’s co-vice chair from 2013 to 2016, and on the MBA Servicing Conference Steering Committee in 2014 and 2015. He assisted with the MBA’s Council to Shape Change, and chaired the joint CREFC/MBA Loan Assumption Task Force. Alan regularly attends industry conferences, often as an expert panelist, and has authored or co-authored four published articles on various aspects of CMBS.

    Chris Shamaly, Senior Managing Director, CBRE Loan Services, Inc.

    Chris Shamaly is Senior Managing Director of CBRE Loan Services. He has over 25 years of experience both as a real estate and capital markets professional and also as a commercial bank lawyer specializing in commercial and residential loan servicing, complex loan workouts, loan sales and REO asset management. Beginning in late 2007 and continuing through end of 2015, Chris served as general counsel of Debt and Structured Finance for CBRE Capital Markets.

    Chris is an active member of the Mortgage Bankers Association and earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in both finance and real estate from the University of Texas at Austin.

    Bryan Doyle, Director, Operations & Technology, CBRE Capital Markets

    Bryan Doyle serves as the Director of Operations for CBRE’s Capital Markets division. In his role Bryan oversees strategic partnerships and technology initiatives for the debt and structured finance business line and leads their integrated digital marketing and inside sales team.

    Bryan began his career as a broker at Marcus & Millichap before moving into an acquisitions role for a national student housing owner/operator. In 2013 Bryan moved into the technology industry joining Mitchell International a KKR portfolio company where he oversaw a line of software products for the finance industry. In 2016 Bryan returned to the commercial real estate industry taking his current position with the Debt and Structured Finance team.

    Jason Berry, Chief Operating Officer, Barry Slatt Mortgage Company

    With more than 27 years of experience in commercial real estate, Jason Berry has a proven track record of innovative operations as well as leading cross-functional teams for complex operations. Prior to full-time engagement with Barry Slatt Mortgage, Jason served as both interim Chief Operating Officer and regional leader of the California brokerage offices for CBC Advisors, the largest franchisee in the Coldwell Banker Commercial system. Jason’s background included serving as the Chief Operating Officer from 2000 to 2012 for BT Commercial which helped launch Cassidy Turley in 2010. After the successful merger with Cassidy Turley in 2012, he became the Executive Managing Director of the Northern California region prior to leaving the firm in 2015 with the sale to Cushman & Wakefield.

    Bob Wright, CMB, CCMS, Director, Business Development, SS&C

    Robert G. Wright, CMB, CCMS – Bob joined SS&C Technologies as Director of Business Development and is responsible for delivering next generation technology solutions for the commercial real estate finance industry, including the Precision LM system and AWD workflow solutions.  Prior to SS&C, he was a SVP at PNC’s Midland Loan Services division for 23 years with extensive operational oversight responsibilities throughout the loan servicing division, including technology prioritization, innovation and process improvement, business development and account management, career development, and training.  He earned his MBA from the University of Kansas in Finance and BSBA from the University of Missouri, with a dual major in Finance and Real Estate.

    Carina Johnson, Vice President in Walker & Dunlop’s Loan Servicing department, assists in leading the company’s insurance compliance division. Ms. Johnson specializes in complex commercial blanket coverage analysis and compliance reviews and she is experienced in managing multiple teams throughout Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac’s prefunding, servicing, and auditing processes.

    Ms. Johnson joined Walker & Dunlop in 2013 as an Insurance Analyst and was promoted to Assistant Vice President in 2015.  She has held her current position of Vice President since 2017.  In these roles, Ms. Johnson has designed and implemented customized policies and procedures used to meet multiple lender requirements. Utilizing her insurance and loan servicing expertise, she also works alongside program and web developers to build multiple insurance compliance and workflow systems that improve her team’s efficiency.

     

    Becky Browning, SVP-Closing & Insurance, Armada Analytics, Inc.

    Becky Browning, SVP at Armada Analytics, Inc., oversees closing, insurance review and the Freddie loan purchase departments. Prior to joining Armada, Becky was the owner of Browning Consulting Group consulting with clients in a myriad of areas including loan servicing, underwriting, closings and insurance review.

    Before forming her company, Becky was First VP at Live Oak Capital (which later became a part of Grandbridge Real Estate Capital.) She worked in various capacities including supervising the production analytical staff, closing commercial loans and heading the loan servicing department.

    Prior to her tenure at Live Oak, Becky oversaw national servicing for Holliday, Fenoglio, Fowler. She also spent part of her early career with Prudential Realty Group in loan origination and property management and two years as a commercial fee appraiser with Bach Thoreen.

    Misty Leeth, Managing Director, Red Mortgage Capital

    Ms. Leeth joined RED Mortgage Capital, LLC in August 2008 as Vice President and Servicing Manager, and currently serves as Managing Director. In this position, she oversees the Escrow Administration group and manages all facets of escrow administration including taxes, insurance and escrow analysis. Prior to joining RED, Ms. Leeth was employed as Insurance Services Manager and Risk Analyst for Capmark Financial Group where she worked with and managed insurance matters for multifamily assets. Prior to that, she served as a paralegal for Paramount Financial Group and as a Commercial Specialist for State Farm Insurance Companies. Ms. Leeth holds a paralegal certificate from Ohio University, Ohio Property and Casualty insurance license, and graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree of Business Administration at Mount Vernon Nazarene University.

    Emily Rasmussen, Managing Director, Operations & GSE Review, Harbor Group Consulting, LLC

    Ms. Rasmussen began her career in public finance and equity trading before becoming Head of CMBS Loan Closings at MC Five Mile. While there, she designed and managed the bank’s closing process, overseeing the successful securitization of over two billion in mid-market loans, financing all property types and classes. Since Joining Harbor Group in 2016, Ms. Rasmussen has taken over management of the New York based office, where she oversees Harbor’s agency lending review practice in addition to a variety of balance sheet, bridge loan and construction projects. In addition, she is responsible for Harbor’s global operations and company review standards, which includes management of company analytics procedures, ongoing staff training/development, needs-based process integration for individual clients (both new and existing), technology systems development, and continuous tailoring of procedural and technology platforms in parallel with evolving market and regulatory expectations. Ms. Rasmussen brings lender-side expertise in streamlining the closing process and providing creative solutions that allows Harbor to be an effective and efficient service partner for clients large and small.

    Katie Schwarting's legal practice focuses on CMBS and Freddie Mac securitizations (both the K Series and Small Balance Loan products), regulatory issues impacting securitization, other portfolio and warehouse servicing agreements, B-Piece investor purchase of securities, asset management, workout and foreclose strategies and the sale of servicing rights.

    Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Schwarting was Senior Director of the Commercial Real Estate/Multifamily Finance Department of the Mortgage Bankers Association in Washington, D.C. Her key responsibilities included advancing issues, standards, regulations and legislation to support the commercial real estate industry MBA members in asset administration (including CMBS, portfolio lending and life company servicing) and loan origination (including lenders, rating agencies, consultants, insurance companies and attorneys). She also participated in extensive outreach programs and authored several white papers on topics ranging from the assumption process, mold property inspections to due diligence for force placed insurance.

    Ms. Schwarting's experience also includes five years as Assistant Vice President of the Real Estate and Financial Services - Structured Products Services - division of Wachovia Securities. She worked in the business development group as a deal integration manager, a data integrity manager and a portfolio manager, where she managed sixteen commercial mortgage securitizations and conduit portfolios, totaling more than $10 billion and 1,150 mortgage loans. She also negotiated and closed commercial mortgage-backed securitization transactions, covering business issues as the Master Servicer.

    Richard Tsui, Senior Director, Nuveen Real Estate

    As a senior director with TH Real Estate, Richard Tsui leads a team of professionals providing asset management and surveillance of its entire debt portfolio on behalf of TIAA’s General Account and various separate mandates which consists of domestic and international commercial mortgages, CMBS and real estate debt fund investments.  Mr. Tsui’s broad real estate capital markets knowledge and risk management expertise reflects career experience that encompasses all major property types across many geographies.  Over the past 18 years, he has primarily worked in real estate debt.  Since joining TH Real Estate in 2011, Mr. Tsui helped build its lending platform overseas expanding into the UK and other select European countries as well as Australia.

    Prior to joining TH Real Estate, Mr. Tsui was a debt asset manager at Wells Fargo.  During his tenure, he co-managed the firm’s structured finance CRE CDO and was also involved in implementing strategies for workouts, restructures and dispositions.  Previously, he held debt asset management roles at iStar Financial and CIGNA.

    Mr. Tsui graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Science degree in management with a minor in international studies/economics.

    Christian Baggett, Director of Business Development, Essex Financial Services LLC

    Chris joined Essex in 2018 where he helps clients maximize the value of their servicing business.  Essex provides loan servicing, construction draw reviews and other services to 50 institutional lenders, mortgage banking firms and debt funds.  Prior to Essex, Chris worked for Voya Investment Management for 15 years where he was responsible for the servicing of the firm’s $13 billion mortgage portfolio.  From 1993 to 2002 he worked for CapMark Services where he was responsible for the oversight of mortgage portfolios totaling $20 billion.  At CapMark he served on the management committee charged with talent development of 250 servicing professionals.  He has also held positions with firms that resolved distressed debt and failed savings & loans and has been an independent advisor to firms seeking to improve or expand their services in the mortgage industry.

    Kent Jurgensen is Director-CMS Asset Management, Commercial Mortgage Servicing for Principal Real Estate Investors, LLC, the dedicated real estate unit of Principal Global Investors, LLC.     Rob Lowther, Managing Director, Hunt Real Estate Capital

    Rob Lowther serves as Managing Director, Lender Technology at Hunt Real Estate Capital, joining the firm in 2017.  In this role, he is responsible for the overall architecture and strategy for all business technology initiatives at Hunt and manages a team of eighteen.  In this role he has directed the launch of Hunt’s borrower portal as well as the acquisition of a platform and team supporting machine learning-based market analysis.  Prior to this, he was Vice President in charge of custom technology solutions at Prudential Mortgage Capital where he architected the development of Prudential’s origination, asset management, investor reporting and borrower portal systems, among others.

    Rob began his career as a consultant at Kenneth Leventhal, building financial models for distressed properties, then moving to their new technology consulting services practice.  Following this he worked in various roles at AMRESCO, developing pipeline and asset management systems before serving as Chief Information Officer and overseeing AMRESCO’s acquisition by Austrailian-based Lend Lease.  He also worked as a Director of Technology Services at Hunt Consolidated in Dallas, working across a variety of their business lines ranging from real estate to agriculture to petroleum extraction and refining.

    Rob received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and an MBA in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin.

    As a senior executive for Midland Loan Services, Mr. Shapland is responsible for the overall leadership and operation of Enterprise! Client Services.  As Director, Mr. Shapland manages business development, account management, product support, as well as FDIC data services.   Mr. Shapland’s duties also include the management of application support services, systems testing and implementation, and report/query services for Midland Loan Services. 

    Previously, Mr. Shapland managed the Insurance Company Servicing and Bank Servicing Groups.  Also during his tenure at Midland, Mr. Shapland was accountable for all conversion planning, processing and conversion support.

    Michael A. Nardiello is a Senior Vice President of Property Underwriting at CNA.  He leads the newly formed National Accounts Property Practice which is a dedicated property unit focused on retail and wholesale property programs from the largest domestic and global brokers in the US.

    Mr. Nardiello began his career in 1994 at Marsh & McLennan in NY as an account representative in the Property Advisory Group.  Over the course of his 18 years at Marsh Mr. Nardiello was promoted and held different roles within Marsh’s Northeast Property Advisory and Global Broking Units.  In 2005 he was promoted to Managing Director for the New York Metro region in charge of property placement.  In 2009 he was promoted to National Placement Leader in charge of all property placement operations for the US overseeing 5 regional placement teams handling more than 2500 Risk Management and National property placements totaling over 3 Billion in Gross Written Premiums.

    In 2011 Mr. Nardiello moved to the underwriting side of the business becoming a Regional Property Executive for AIG in the New York region and quickly evolving to encompass the entire North East.  As the Regional Property Executive for the North East, Mr. Nardiello oversaw an underwriting team of over 70 professionals handling $1 Billion of Gross Written Premium.  In 2015 Mr. Nardiello joined Endurance which was then purchased by Sompo to star up property underwriting for the newly formed Global Risk Solutions Group as a Senior Vice President.  The Sompo GRS team was a focused marketing group writing insurance for Real Estate, Professional Services and Financial Institution clients. In 2018, Mr. Nardiello joined CNA in his current role establishing the new National Accounts Property Practice.

    Ron Steffenino is a Senior Managing Director and Member of the Multifamily Capital Markets Executive Committee at Newmark Knight Frank (NKF), where he joined in 2016.  He is responsible for managing Servicing, Asset Management and Special Servicing on a $60B portfolio, representing over 3,100 loans.  Ron also manages the Business Support group, which is responsible for Cash Controls, T&E and AP approvals, Payroll and Business Continuity.  His additional responsibilities also include Servicing Strategy, Marketing, Recruiting and Business Development.

    Sharon is the Chief Financial Officer for Greystone Servicing Corporation, Inc.   She has over 25 years in the mortgage finance area.  Sharon began her accounting career as an auditor for Coopers and Lybrand.  Her clientele included real estate clients, the International Monetary Fund and not for profit organizations.  She started her career in mortgage finance as the Controller at Washington Capital.  After helping sell the multifamily agency lender she was hired by The WMF Group (a publicly traded multifamily agency lender) which was purchased by Prudential Multifamily Mortgage.  After Prudential she continued her career at AMI Capital, Inc. assisting in the sale to Wachovia Bank, NA.  After the sale, Sharon stayed on to become the Director of Multifamily Agency Servicing for Wachovia which was acquired by Wells Fargo.  She joined Greystone in November 2005.  Sharon attended Vanderbilt University and obtained a Bachelor of Accountancy from George Washington University.  She is an active certified public accountant.

    David Croskery, Senior Managing Director, Loan Servicing Group, HFF

    David Croskery is a Senior Managing Director and leader of the Loan Servicing Group for HFF (Holliday Fenoglio Fowler, L.P.).  Located in the Houston office, he has over 23 years experience in commercial real estate.  He is primarily responsible for the management of HFF’s loan servicing operations, including portfolio management, staff supervision and acting as a liaison to borrowers and lenders.

    Mr. Croskery joined the firm in February 2004. Prior to HFF, he was a Corporate Real Estate Manager with Shell Oil Company and a Director at American General where he managed a $4B mortgage portfolio.  Mr. Croskery also served as a Senior Real Estate Consultant at Ernst & Young, LLP.

    Join this session to hear industry experts from the GSEs discuss their mission of providing affordable multifamily rental housing in in three historically underserved markets - rural housing, manufactured housing and the preservation of affordable housing, in addition to providing for environmentally responsible multifamily rental housing.  Agency Lenders and the leaders from each GSE will discuss the  risks and challenges they continue to face, particularly related to updated standards for Green loans, and how they are utilizing innovations in technology and other tools to strengthen their servicing platform.

    Jane Ingham, Group Vice President, M&T Realty Capital Corporation

    Jane A. Ingham is a Group Vice President & the Chief Asset Manager of M&T Realty Capital Corporation (“M&TRCC”), the commercial mortgage-banking subsidiary of Manufacturers and Traders Trust Company (“M&T Bank”). Ms. Ingham manages the Asset Management and Servicing Teams for M&TRCC and is directly responsible for overseeing all aspects of asset management, servicing and credit risk analysis on a $19.7 billion dollar portfolio of loans. Over the past 36 years Ms. Ingham has held several positions within the commercial real estate department of M&T Bank and its predecessors, before joining M&TRCC as an asset manager in 1998. Ms. Ingham is very active in the commercial real estate industry and is a past Chair and current member of the MBA FHA Servicing Sub-Committee, the MBA Property Inspection Working Group, Fannie Mae DUS Advisory Servicing Sub-Committee, past member of the Freddie Mac Advisory Committee and numerous other industry groups and committees.

    Leanne Spies, Senior Vice President, Asset Management & Operations, Freddie Mac

    Leanne Spies is senior vice president of Multifamily Asset Management  & Operations in the Freddie Mac Multifamily division. Spies directs six teams consisting of 280 professionals who are responsible for the systems and processes that customers and investors depend on every step of the way when they work with Freddie Mac Multifamily, from funding to loan payoff. These responsibilities include Seller/Servicer eligibility, loan servicing, special servicing, surveillance, and business technical change  management.  Spies also manages internal and external relationships with oversight bodies, audit, and regulatory agencies as well as risk and controls for the Multifamily Division.

    Spies reports to Deborah Jenkins, who is the executive vice president of Freddie Mac Multifamily. She previously held several positions of increasing responsibility at Freddie Mac Multifamily, including Vice President of MF Operations, Senior Director of Multifamily Asset Management Governance & Control at Freddie Mac, Director in Multifamily Asset Management and Director of Loan Accounting, Cash Desk, and Operational Close in Multifamily Operations. Spies began her career at Freddie Mac in 1997 as an Internal Systems Auditor.

    Spies has a Master of Accountancy in Information Systems and a Bachelor of Science in Business degrees from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and is a non-practicing CPA.

    Robert E. Walton, Vice President, Multifamily Debt and Equity Asset Management, Fannie Mae

    Rob Walton is Fannie Mae’s Vice President – Debt and Equity Asset Management, reporting to the Senior Vice President – Multifamily Credit and Risk. Walton is responsible for managing the company’s portfolio of multifamily loans (Delegating Underwriting and Servicing and non-DUS), as well as its equity investments in multifamily properties.  

    Before assuming his current position in January 2014, Walton served as Director – Credit Risk Management in the Multifamily Affordable Housing group, where he was responsible for all aspects of credit and risk related to Fannie Mae’s lending activities in multifamily properties for moderate- and low-income families. He also served as Director – Credit Risk for Multifamily’s equity platform, including Low-Income Housing Tax Credit, Community Investments, Community Lending, and Acquisition, Development, and Construction.

    Prior to joining Fannie Mae in 2004, Walton worked in the commercial real estate divisions of a number of commercial banks, focusing on construction and affordable housing. 

    Walton has a bachelor of arts in political science from Washington and Lee University and a master of business administration from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business. 

    Michael J. Palmer, Senior Vice President, Walker & Dunlop, LLC

    Michael Palmer, senior vice president, is responsible for managing Walker & Dunlop's Asset Management department including portfolio loan management, property monitoring activities and loan default management. Mr. Palmer joined Walker & Dunlop in 1992 and has 31 years of experience in the real estate finance industry. He has held several positions at Walker & Dunlop in both the servicing and underwriting departments and has managed the day-to-day operations of the Asset Management department since November 2001. Prior to joining Walker & Dunlop, Mr. Palmer was assistant treasurer for Independence Federal Savings Bank in Washington, D.C. Mr. Palmer obtained his bachelor’s degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

    Craig is the Head of Commercial Servicing at Accenture Credit Services, where he leads the insurance, financial reporting, credit analysis, and other servicing operations of Accenture's Commercial Offering. In addition, he acts as a liaison between business and technology teams to design industry applications that are integral tools in our platform. These activities touch on all aspects of commercial lending. He brings more than 16 years of mortgage and commercial credit related experience including multi-family housing, commercial real estate, and non-real estate backed assets.

    Laura J. Smith, Managing Director, Servicing, Newmark Knight Frank

    Laura Smith is a Managing Director at Newmark Knight Frank and is responsible for managing several of the operations teams within the Servicing Group. In this capacity, Laura manages the insurance, escrows, taxes, new loan boarding and various other functions for a $60B portfolio encompassing 3,600 loans in 49 states. She has over 21 years of industry experience as well as over 26 years of experience in the insurance and servicing industry including residential servicing, insurance brokerage, and marketing experience. Laura has experience in many different portfolio types including CMBS, GSE, Private Investors, Private Label, Life Company, and Community Loans. She also has experience in successfully implementing and managing outsourced and off shore platforms in Ireland, Manilla, and Hyderabad. Laura holds a B.S. in Marketing from Penn State University, Masters of Education from Arcadia University, and an MBA from LaSalle University. Laura is also the Co-Chair of the MBA Insurance Stakeholders Roundtable and is an active participant in various insurance industry regulatory discussions and various industry panels. Laura is a Licensed Life, Accident & Health and Property & Casualty Agent.

    Michael McDaniel, President, Fortress Risk Consultants, LLC

    Mr. McDaniel formed Fortress Risk in 2012 after spending fifteen years with a number of national and regional insurance brokerage firms, including Wells Fargo Insurance Services, Wachovia Insurance Services and Hamilton Dorsey Alston Company.  During that time, Mike served as the Client Executive in charge of all relationship matters for his clients, including risk management consulting, policy marketing and placement, claims management and loss prevention. Mike has worked with clients of all sizes, from large national property accounts to local technology companies.

    Fortress Risk Consultants specializes in providing high level risk management consulting advice, including providing insurance due diligence and program reviews. Fortress has particular expertise assisting lenders, financial institutions, real estate investment companies and private equity groups determine insurance adequacy before making loans or acquisitions. Mike and his colleagues have years of experience and familiarity with the insurance requirements of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, HUD and CMBS lenders.

    Prior to his insurance career, Mr. McDaniel spent 15 years in the banking industry, working for large regional and national banks. He worked in the mergers and acquisition and commercial real estate sectors of these institutions.

    The combination of experience in both retail insurance and commercial banking allows him to seamlessly understand the complexities of working with both insurance brokers, as well as investors and lenders (and their borrowers), while conducting sensitive insurance due diligence projects.

    Mike holds a B.A. from the University of the South (Sewanee), an MBA from the Freeman School of Business at Tulane University.

    Lindsay Ellingson, Commercial Insurance Manager, NorthMarq

    Lindsay Ellingson, Commercial Insurance Manager, has been with NorthMarq Capital’s Insurance department since 2014 and has been in her current role since 2017.  Lindsay oversees a team of analysts that manages insurance compliance for agency and life insurance company lenders.  Additionally, Lindsay is the Insurance department’s project manager for NorthMarq’s transition to a new servicing system, and is an active member of a stakeholder group responsible for the development of a new insurance module in that system.  Lindsay is the co-Advisor of a leadership development council within NorthMarq’s Servicing department and represents NorthMarq on Aeon’s Young Professionals Steering Committee.
