    Leonard Ryan, President, QuestSoft Corporation

    Leonard Ryan has been associated with the mortgage industry for over 30 years co-owning a mortgage company, developing loan origination software and, for the past 22 years, becoming a major compliance software leader. He is a member of both MBA HMDA/Fair Lending and NMLS Mortgage Call Report working groups and is a frequent speaker at mortgage software and regulatory compliance conferences.  In 2014, Leonard was named a Tech All-Star by the MBA’s Mortgage Banking Magazine. Mr. Ryan was also one of only three finalists nationwide for a special award from Mortgage Technology Magazine called the Steve Fraser Visionary Award. The award recognizes individuals that have helped define technology in the mortgage industry today. In 2016, Mr. Ryan was added to MPA’s Hot 100 list of Mortgage superstars one of only 5 tech company winners and the only compliance company executive to quality. His latest personal achievement was being name to receive a Vanguard Award from Housing Wire Magazine in January, 2017.  In addition to personal recognition, his company, QuestSoft, has received 20 awards over the past four years including the top award for a vendor, the Lenders Choice award, voted on by thousands of lenders nationwide. QuestSoft was recently named the 12th Top Workplace in Orange County, CA by the Orange County Register, a recognition that has been given to QuestSoft 3 of the past 4 years. Finally, the company received an Innovations award in March 2017 in recognition of its Compliance RELIEF software which will be used to transition to the new CFPB HMDA guidelines.

    Ben Wu, Executive Director, LoanScorecard

    Benjamin Wu is executive director of LoanScorecard, a leading provider of automated underwriting and compliance solutions. In this role, he regularly works with clients to assess their current and future needs, helping them apply technology to their credit decision process, to increase reach, mitigate risk and broaden credit availability. Wu has more than 20 years of experience in the mortgage technology industry. At LoanScorecard, he has spearheaded the development of the company’s automated underwriting system, Portfolio Underwriter; product and pricing engine, Pricer1; automated sales distribution system, Portfolio Producer; and QM Findings, the first Qualified Mortgage solution on the market. Wu is also one of the founding members of CalyxSoftware and was instrumental in the conception and execution of some of its core solutions, including Point for Windows, PointCentral and WebCaster. Wu has spoken at numerous industry events and contributed articles to several trade publications, including CUToday, Credit Union Journal, MortgageOrb, Mortgage Banking, and Scotsman Guide. In addition, he was named a 2016 HousingWire Vanguard Award Winner.

    John Vong, CMB, CMT, President, ComplianceEase

    John Vong serves as president of ComplianceEase, the nation’s leading provider of risk management solutions to the financial services industry, which he co-founded in 2001. After first entering the mortgage industry by founding a mortgage bank in San Francisco in 1986, he sold the bank to The Money Store and then First Union Bank in 1997 and 1998, respectively. It was then that he developed his passion for compliance risk. He is a frequent speaker in trade events and contributor to various media in the industry; his articles include current issues and technology developments that affect regulatory compliance. Vong received HousingWire’s 2015 Vanguard Award for extraordinary leadership in the housing economy. He was named Tech All-Star by Mortgage Banking Magazine in 2010 for his success and contribution to the mortgage industry. John was awarded the designations of Certified Mortgage Banker (CMB) and Certified Mortgage Technologist (CMT) from the Mortgage Bankers Association.

    Sheraz Syed, Regulatory Associate, Mortgage Bankers Association

    Sheraz is a Regulatory Associate in MBA’s Residential Policy group, working with the Regulatory Policy team. He assists with the management of MBA’s Legal Issues and Regulatory Compliance Committee, managing the Committee’s Community Pages, maintaining MBA’s Amicus and Litigation databases and providing research and support to MBA’s Regulatory Counsel for various policy and legal issues. Prior to joining MBA, he worked as an attorney for a boutique law firm in New York, litigating creditors rights throughout the state. His background is in information technology law and policy.

    Larry Zastrow, Senior Manager, Sales, Ellie Mae, Inc.

    Larry Zastrow is National Sales Manager – AllRegs East Region for Ellie Mae, and has focused on growing the AllRegs brand since 2010. Larry brings over 3 decades of mortgage expertise to Ellie Mae while focusing on compliance in his underwriting, training, wholesale, and AllRegs sales roles.

    Esmeralda Arredondo, Business Development Executive, Smarsh

    Esmeralda is part of the New Business Development Team at Smarsh where she helps firms mitigate electronic communications risk through technology solutions and efficient workflows via a unified archiving platform. In her role she aligns the proper Smarsh services to meet the specific needs of a business after a deep discovery and understanding of project objectives. Esmeralda’s success has come largely through her attention detail, industry expertise, and focus on sustainable partnerships. The result is peace of mind for stakeholders knowing that employees can collaborate and work in todays modern environment while be protected from regulatory, reputational, and legal risk.

    Crystal Grainger, Business Development Executive, Smarsh

    Crystal serves as a member of Smarsh’s Business Development Team where she helps drive the growth of the company’s current client base by offering Smarsh product and industry expertise.  In her role, Crystal helps to identify a path through the technology, regulatory, internal policy and reputational risks inherent in how financial services businesses communicate today and beyond. Crystal has been with Smarsh for 3 years in varied capacities and was previously a Risk Mitigation Advisor with Allstate Inc. Crystal is a Public Policy graduate of the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon.  With more than 25,000 customers, Smarsh is the leading provider of archiving and compliance solutions for companies in regulated and litigious industries. 

    Daniel Smith, Senior Vice President, Sales, ComplianceEase

    Daniel Smith is the senior vice president of Sales for ComplianceEase, the nation’s leading provider of risk management solutions to the financial services industry.  Smith is responsible for many company-wide initiatives, including chairing the ComplianceEase Risk & Compliance Summit. During his time with the company, he has driven revenue growth through new client acquisitions and collaborative relationships with many of the largest, leading lenders.  Prior to joining ComplianceEase in 2005, Smith managed a consultative team at Fiserv that aided lenders in valuing servicing portfolios.
