    Richard E. Gottlieb is a partner at Manatt, co-resident in the firm's Chicago and Los Angeles offices and leader of the firm’s Consumer Financial Services group.  Long recognized by Chambers & Partners as one of the nation’s leading financial services lawyers, Richard's practice focuses on counseling financial service entities, including mortgage lenders and servicers, in new product development, federal and state regulatory and compliance matters, and in defending them in connection with, among other things, consumer class action suits, state and federal financial regulatory proceedings and examinations, as well as enforcement matters.  A frequent speaker and author, his annual desk reference, the Consumer Financial Services Answer Book, is one of the best-selling treatises in the field.  Richard is a fellow in both the American College of Mortgage Attorneys and the American College of Consumer Financial Services Lawyers.

    Thomas Hefferon, Partner, Goodwin

    Thomas Hefferon is a partner in Goodwin Procter’s Litigation Department, resident in the Washington, D.C. office. He specializes in the representation of banks and other financial institutions in the consumer financial services industry, including those involved in retail banking, residential mortgage lending and servicing, debt collection, fintech relationships, automobile lending, and credit and prepaid cards. The subject matter of these representations include fair lending, legal compliance, UDAP claims, and performance of consumer contracts. Cases that Mr. Hefferon handles typically are class actions or multidistrict proceedings, filed in courts throughout the country.

    Michelle Rogers, Partner, Buckley LLP

    Michelle L. Rogers, a Partner in the Washington, D.C., office of Buckley LLP, represents institutions in a wide range of litigation matters, including government enforcement actions, class action litigation, regulatory examinations, and internal investigations. She has represented clients in matters involving the Department of Justice; the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau; federal and state bank regulators; the Department of Housing and Urban Development; the Department of Veteran Affairs; the Federal Housing Finance Agency; the Government National Mortgage Association; and state attorneys general. An acknowledged authority in her field, Ms. Rogers, is a Fellow of the American College of Consumer Financial Services Lawyers.

    Mallory Garner, Senior Managing Director & General Counsel, PennyMac Financial Services, Inc.

    Mallory Garner is Senior Managing Director, General Counsel at PennyMac, where her team provides legal support to the production and servicing divisions and manages litigation.  Prior to joining PennyMac in 2011, Mallory specialized in default servicing legal issues, first as Deputy General Counsel at Countrywide and then as Associate General Counsel at Bank of America  during the financial crisis.  Prior to her in-house experience, she spent 10 years practicing business litigation.  Mallory received her B.A. and J.D. degrees from George Washington University and is admitted to practice in California.  In 2013, Mallory was recognized in Legal 500’s Corporate Counsel 100.
