    Get insight from Melissa Koide, CEO and Director of FinRegLab,  on the research her organization’s latest research and findings on industry impacting our industry. FinRegLab is an innovation center that tests new technologies and data to inform public policy and drive the financial sector toward a responsible and inclusive financial marketplace. Learn how their work facilitates discourse across the financial ecosystem to inform public policy and market practices.

    Prior to establishing FinRegLab, Koide served as the U.S. Treasury Department’s Deputy Assistant Secretary for Consumer Policy where she developed and executed the Treasury Department’s consumer policies. She helped to build the first government offered preretirement savings product, the myRA, and she established the $5 million Innovation Fund to support research and strategies to improve consumers’ financial health and their access to safe and affordable financial products and services. Before joining the U.S. Treasury Department, Koide was the Vice President of Policy at the Center for Financial Services Innovation.

    Nima J. Vahdat, CRCM, CAMS is the Senior Vice President, Associate General Counsel of loanDepot.com, LLC, acting as its Fair & Responsible Lending Officer and head of lending compliance. Prior to joining loanDepot, Nima worked in banking compliance at Discover Financial Services and Washington Mutual Bank. Nima received his law degree from the University of Michigan and his MBA from California State University, Fullerton. Nima has published articles with the ABA Bank Compliance Magazine and has been a speaker at mortgage industry events.

    Pete Mills, Residential Policy and Member Engagement, Mortgage Bankers Association

    Pete Mills is Senior Vice President of Residential Policy and Member Engagement at the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA). In this position, he leads MBA's residential policy team and state and local advocacy program, directs MBA's residential member engagement and recruitment efforts, and oversees business development for industry education and professional development programs under the MBA Education brand. Pete is a regular guest speaker on major policy issues.  Mills is an experienced financial services industry executive with 30 years of expertise in public affairs, government relations, public policy and research, all in the housing and mortgage finance arena. Most recently, he served as Managing Director of the Community Mortgage Banking Project, a public policy organization that represents the interests of companies and coalitions involved in the housing and mortgage finance industries.  During his career, Mills lead corporate public affairs for Countrywide Financial, managed trade association policy advocacy for the California Mortgage Bankers Association and the California Association of Realtors, and conducted housing policy research at the Federal Reserve Board.

    Justin Wiseman, Associate Vice President and Managing Regulatory Counsel, Public Policy and Industry Relations, Mortgage Bankers Association

    Justin Wiseman is an Associate Vice President and Managing Regulatory Counsel in the Public Policy and Industry Relations department at the Mortgage Bankers Association. Justin manages MBA’s Regulatory Policy team that covers legal issues, trends in litigation, regulatory compliance matters, and servicing as well as provides strategic direction to advance MBA member priorities on regulatory and legal matters. This team also analyzes pending rules and legislation, provides comments on behalf of MBA members on pending rules or regulations and helps develops MBA’s posture towards innovation and innovation policy. Prior to this, he staffed MBA’s Loan Administration committee, providing policy development insights and working with stakeholders to advocate on behalf of the industry. Justin assisted the Department to formulate responses to policy initiatives and helps monitor relevant trends in the servicing market. Justin also worked at MBA as Associate Regulatory Counsel to analyze forthcoming legislation and administrative rule-making. Before joining MBA, Justin clerked for a federal District Court in the Middle District of Tennessee and worked with the Center for Strategic and International Studies on European and Transatlantic security issues.

    David Zitting, CMB, Chief Executive Officer, Primary Residential Mortgage, Inc.

    One of PRMI’s founding partners, Dave Zitting is an innovative leader with over 25 years of mortgage-banking experience. Early on in his career Dave worked in mortgage operations, and quickly moved into sales as a Mortgage Loan Originator. He went on to help form Primary Residential Mortgage, Inc. (PRMI) in 1998. PRMI is a national retail mortgage-banking company funding in excess of six-billion dollars in annual loan volume. PRMI enjoys agency seller-servicer status with Fannie, Freddie and Ginnie, along with seller relationships with the top industry counter-party aggregates.  As CEO, Dave is responsible for providing leadership and direction in all areas and complexities of PRMI, with an emphasis on determining and executing PRMI’s strategic direction. Dave has been involved in multiple areas of MBA, including the Board of Directors and the MBA taskforce, RESBOG. Dave also obtained his Certified Mortgage Banker status in 2015.
