    Holly Bunting is a partner in Mayer Brown’s Washington DC office and a member of the Financial Services Regulatory & Enforcement group. Holly represents companies in the mortgage lending, title insurance and real estate industries on regulatory compliance matters and defends clients subject to government audits, investigations and enforcement proceedings. She provides counsel on federal and state consumer credit and protection laws, and focuses particular attention on assisting companies in complying with the anti-kickback requirements of RESPA, including counseling clients on the creation and operation of affiliated business arrangements, reviewing proposed and existing business relationships, and drafting agreements and disclosures.

    Jerra H. Ryan, SVP of Compliance and QC at SWBC Mortgage Corporation, is a mortgage professional with three decades of service in lending. Well-versed in all areas of residential loan production, from origination through processing, underwriting and closing, Jerra set the standard for loan quality excellence and led $250-million in production as a top-ranked originator and producing branch manager before moving her unique fusion of experience into senior leadership as a compliance officer. Jerra advocates for what we can do in mortgage compliance and production. She believes compliance should provide guardrails for business, not road blocks, and brings clarity to complex rules to drive the alignment between sales and regulations.

    Stacey Valerio, Of Counsel, Ballard Spahr LLP

    Stacey L. Valerio focuses her practice on the mortgage banking industry. Stacey has more than 20 years' experience, including nearly a decade at the State of Connecticut Department of Banking's Consumer Credit Division, where she handled licensing and enforcement matters, with primary focus on the mortgage industry. In that role, she counseled the Consumer Credit Division, served as an administrative hearing officer, and drafted legislation, legal opinions, and rulings. The position also involved working with various other state and federal agencies, including the state Office of the Attorney General, the FBI, and the CFPB. Stacey was active with the State Regulatory Registry LLC's Lawyers Committee for many years, serving as its chair from 2014 to 2017, and was actively involved with the American Association of Residential Mortgage Regulators (AARMR), serving as a director and an officer.  Stacey has experience counseling clients on a wide variety of regulatory matters at the federal and state levels. Her experience includes licensing and regulatory compliance, legislative initiatives, contract drafting, and the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System & Registry (NMLS).

    Justin Wiseman, Associate Vice President and Managing Regulatory Counsel, Mortgage Bankers Association

    Justin Wiseman is an Associate Vice President and Managing Regulatory Counsel in the Public Policy and Industry Relations department at the Mortgage Bankers Association. Justin manages MBA’s Regulatory Policy team that covers legal issues, trends in litigation, regulatory compliance matters, and servicing as well as provides strategic direction to advance MBA member priorities on regulatory and legal matters. This team also analyzes pending rules and legislation, provides comments on behalf of MBA members on pending rules or regulations and helps develops MBA’s posture towards innovation and innovation policy. Prior to this, he staffed MBA’s Loan Administration committee, providing policy development insights and working with stakeholders to advocate on behalf of the industry.

    Joshua Weinberg, President, Firstline Compliance, LLC

    Joshua Weinberg is a nationally recognized speaker, author, consultant, and leader in the mortgage industry. He is the President of Firstline Compliance (www.firstlinecompliance.com), a consulting company specializing in mortgage compliance and technology. He works closely with Federal and State Regulators and participates with many industry associations. He currently leads MBA’s LEP Working Group and is the past Chair of MBA’s Regulatory Compliance Committee, a member of ABA’s Residential Markets Committee, and Past Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors for MISMO.

    Eric Houser, Managing Partner, Houser LLP

    Eric D. Houser is the managing partner of Houser LLP, a law firm with 10 offices nationwide founded in 2001. Mr. Houser graduated from the University of California, San Diego in 1984. In 1987, Mr. Houser received his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of San Diego School of Law. Mr. Houser has been practicing law for over 34 years. Mr. Houser has a national litigation practice specializing in consumer and commercial finance, default servicing, title, bankruptcy, insurance and technology litigation.  Mr. Houser has successfully tried cases in state, federal and bankruptcy courts from Hawaii to Connecticut (and lots of places in between). Mr. Houser has co-authored the original edition of the book “California Causes of Actions.”

    Troy Garris is Co-Managing Partner of Garris Horn LLP.  A business owner’s lawyer, Troy prides himself on a results-oriented, pragmatic approach to legal and compliance for mortgage companies and banks. Troy deals with federal and state compliance, regulatory enforcement defense, company formation, and mergers and acquisitions.  In these areas, he represents independent mortgage bankers, community banks, lenders, servicers, builders, title companies, secondary market investors, and equity funds.  He is frequently involved in matters involving LO Compensation, RESPA, TILA, Fair Lending, FHA, social media marketing, and other issues, and appears in matters before the CFPB, HUD, FTC, and state banking agencies. Troy is active in the industry, including being significantly involved with industry associations, and is an alumnus of the Mortgage Bankers Association Future Leader’s program.     Alan S. Wolf is the President and Managing Attorney of The Wolf Firm, A Law Corporation.  Mr. Wolf has served as the Chair of the California Mortgage Bankers Association Legal Services Committee (1994-1995) and Co-Chair (1995-1996), helped found the USFN (the preeminent national association of mortgage banking law firms), and served as a member of the USFN Board of Directors (1990-1996).  Mr. Wolf was the lead attorney in the landmark bankruptcy cram down case of Enewally v. Wash. Mut. Bank (In re Enewally), 368 F.3d 1165 (9th Cir. Cal. 2004).  Mr. Wolf lectures extensively throughout the country on a variety of loan servicing and mortgage banking issues and has been a featured speaker at numerous MBA National Legal Issues and Regulatory Compliance conferences and National Servicing conferences.  He has also written many articles for leading mortgage banking trade journals including Mortgage Banking MagazineServicing Management, California Finance, the CTA Newsletter and USFN Report and has authored sections in the Mortgage Bankers Association’s Handbook on Loan Administration and two chapters in the Mortgage Servicers National Reference Directory.

    James M. Milano is a partner with Weiner Brodsky Kider PC.  His practice focuses on federal and state regulatory compliance matters for the financial services industry.
