    Jeff Barringer is a Member in the Consumer Financial Services and Business Law groups of McGlinchey’s Albany office. Jeff regularly advises financial institutions, mortgage lenders and servicers, as well as other providers of consumer financial services on compliance with state and federal law. His work includes providing counsel regarding licensing, usury restrictions, preemption, and other regulatory compliance matters including responding to regulatory inquiries and examination issues. He received his J.D., summa cum laude, from Albany School of Law.

    Michelle Mierzwa, Partner, Wright, Finlay & Zak, LLP

    Michelle A. Mierzwa is a Compliance Partner at Wright, Finlay & Zak LLP, a Western Regional law firm in Arizona, California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington and Utah, providing the mortgage industry with state and federal compliance and regulatory counsel. Over 22 years in practice, she resolved litigation through trials and appellate practice, headed legal for a multi-state non-judicial foreclosure trustee, coordinated compliance audits, and managed the California branch of a national law firm. She works with lenders and servicers of all sizes to ensure compliance with state and federal laws, including FDCPA, SCRA, FCRA, RESPA, TILA, Dodd-Frank Act and CFPB Rules, CARES Act, state collection, foreclosure and licensing laws, and regulatory agency investigations.

    Michelle Rogers, Partner, Buckley LLP

    Michelle L. Rogers, a Partner in the Washington, D.C., office of Buckley LLP, represents institutions in a wide range of litigation matters, including government enforcement actions, class action litigation, regulatory examinations, and internal investigations. She has represented clients in matters involving the Department of Justice; the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau; federal and state bank regulators; the Department of Housing and Urban Development; the Department of Veteran Affairs; the Federal Housing Finance Agency; the Government National Mortgage Association; and state attorneys general. An acknowledged authority in her field, Ms. Rogers, is a Fellow of the American College of Consumer Financial Services Lawyers.

    Stacey Valerio, Of Counsel, Ballard Spahr LLP

    Stacey L. Valerio focuses her practice on the mortgage banking industry. Stacey has more than 20 years' experience, including nearly a decade at the State of Connecticut Department of Banking's Consumer Credit Division, where she handled licensing and enforcement matters, with primary focus on the mortgage industry. In that role, she counseled the Consumer Credit Division, served as an administrative hearing officer, and drafted legislation, legal opinions, and rulings. The position also involved working with various other state and federal agencies, including the state Office of the Attorney General, the FBI, and the CFPB. Stacey was active with the State Regulatory Registry LLC's Lawyers Committee for many years, serving as its chair from 2014 to 2017, and was actively involved with the American Association of Residential Mortgage Regulators (AARMR), serving as a director and an officer.  Stacey has experience counseling clients on a wide variety of regulatory matters at the federal and state levels. Her experience includes licensing and regulatory compliance, legislative initiatives, contract drafting, and the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System & Registry (NMLS).

    Kobie Pruitt AMP, Associate Director, State Government Affairs, Mortgage Bankers Association

    Kobie is the Associate Director of State Government Affairs at the Mortgage Bankers Association. He assists in leading MBA's advocacy efforts at the state and local level. Prior to joining MBA, Kobie was the Director of Policy at the Conference of State Bank Supervisors where he acted as the policy lead for the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System (NMLS). Kobie was also a Legislative Assistant to Congresswoman Kaptur (OH-09) with a portfolio that included the Committee on Appropriations Transportation and Housing and Urban Development Subcommittee.
