    Robert (Bob) Broeksmit, CMB is a senior finance executive and corporate officer with a 33-year career in the mortgage sector. He has directed all aspects of lending activities, including marketing, sales, operations,  secondary marketing, loan servicing, and default management. He has also served as a mortgage underwriting expert testifying on many large, high-profile cases. Prior to joining MBA, Broeksmit served as President and Chief Operating Officer with Treliant, heading the firm’s mortgage litigation support practice. Before Treliant, Broeksmit held senior leadership positions in the mortgage business, including 14 years with Chevy Chase Bank (including after its purchase by Capital One). He also was Vice President at Prudential Home Mortgage for seven years. He has overseen annual originations of $9 billion, a balance sheet of $10 billion in residential mortgage and a servicing portfolio of $20 billion. He is past Chairman of MBA’s Residential Board of Governors and a member of its Board of Directors.

    Michael Fratantoni is MBA’s Chief Economist and Senior Vice President of Research and Industry Technology. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing MBA’s industry surveys, benchmarking studies, economic and mortgage originations forecasts, industry technology efforts and policy development research for both single-family and commercial/ multifamily markets. Additionally, Fratantoni is president and member of the Board of Directors of MISMO and serves on the CSP’s Industry Advisory Group and the  membership committee of MERS. Prior to joining MBA, Fratantoni worked in the industry in risk management and senior economist roles at Washington Mutual and Fannie Mae. He received a Ph.D. in economics from Johns Hopkins University and a B.A. in economics from The College of William and Mary, and has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Washington and Johns Hopkins, George Washington and Georgetown Universities.

    Bill Emerson, 2016 MBA Chairman, Vice Chairman, Quicken Loans

    Bill Emerson is Vice Chairman of Rock Holdings Inc., the parent company of Quicken Loans and several other fintech businesses. He is responsible for leadership, growth and culture development across the entire Rock Holdings portfolio. Most recently, Emerson was CEO of Quicken Loans, a position he held for 15 years, joining in 1993 as a Mortgage Banker. Emerson is an active spokesman for the housing industry and has testified before the United States Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs and the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit. He served as 2016 MBA Chairman and is a board member of the Financial Services Roundtable’s Housing Policy Council (HPC) and the HPC’s Executive Council. Emerson is a member of the Board of Directors of Xenith, Inc., a football helmet company. Dedicated to his community, he received the ALS Association’s Iron Horse Award and the Salvation Army’s prestigious William Booth Award and supports the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Michigan Chapter.

    Laura Escobar, President, Eagle Home Mortgage, LLC

    Laura Escobar is President of Eagle Home Mortgage, the mortgage lending subsidiary of Lennar Corporation, the nation’s largest homebuilder.  She leads a team of more than 1,100 associates in 54 locations across 26 states. A 30-year mortgage industry veteran, Escobar has held leadership positions with both bank-owned and independent mortgage companies overseeing all aspects of mortgage banking including production, operations, compliance, accounting, and training. Escobar joined Eagle in 2002 as Branch Manager, was promoted to SVP in 2004, then to EVP in 2016. She was named President in 2018.  Escobar pursues her passion of “Paying It Forward” through involvement in her local community.  Escobar sits on multiple advisory boards, including TransUnion Mortgage Advisory, Fannie Mae AHAC, Ellie Mae Executive Advisory, Mortgage Action Alliance, NAHREP member, RESBOG, MBA Board of  Directors for the upcoming term and recently accepted co-chair of IMB.

    Paul Orlando is executive vice president and chief information officer for Mortgage Lending at Flagstar Bank, a position he has held since February 2018. He is currently responsible for all IT initiatives and support for Flagstar’s mortgage line of business focusing on leading their transformation to an end-to-end digital platform.  He has over three decades of mortgage banking and IT experience with a strong background in strategic planning, system and process innovation, regulatory compliance, and financial analysis. He is responsible for Ellie Mae’s Security Engineering, Operations, Strategy, Cyber Resilience, and GRC.  Before joining Ellie Mae, Selim was the Vice President of Global Information Security at Visa.  In that role, Selim transformed Visa’s information security program into the industry leader, led critical security programs including product security innovation, and enabled global growth and datacenter expansion.  He also led the definition of security technologies for protecting Visa’s data, networks, data centers, digital wallets, applications, end-point devices, and other core capabilities for corporate network as well as issuer- and consumer-facing products and services.  Selim was recognized for leading company-wide Security Initiatives including ApplePay, Visa’s APAC Data Center, and Visa’s Data Protection Programs.  Previously, Selim spent over 11 years at Intel where he held senior management and technology roles and championed several security technologies for Intel’s server, desktop, and mobile products.  Prior to Intel, Selim held senior engineering positions at General Dynamics - Land Systems Division (M1A2 Battle Tank Vehicle Electronics), General Motors (Embedded Software Center of Excellence), and Applied Dynamics International. Selim earned his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. engineering degrees from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Senior Member of IEEE, and member of ACM and ISACA. He holds over 100 patents in various areas of computer and information security.  Selim has served as a Board Member for several Startups, Venture Capital firms, and Security Institutions, including FS-ISAC MRC, State of California’s Cybersecurity Task Force, National Technology Security Coalition (NTSC), UC Berkeley CISO Institute, Bay Area CISO Executive Governing Body, and CISO Magazine. He co-authored the book Security for Mobile Networks and Platforms (Artech House).  Selim has also been recognized for security innovation and leadership and received several awards including the 2019 CISO of the Year Award, Top 100 Global CISOs, and Most Influential CISOs.

    Thomas Clerici, Chief Technology Officer and Chief Information Security Officer, Freedom Mortgage Corporation

    Tom Clerici currently serves as the Chief Technology Officer and Chief Information Security Officer at Freedom Mortgage.  He manages all technology services and cyber security functions to include strategy planning, operations, monitoring and enforcement. He works regularly with C-Suite management to understand company requirements for system uptime, availability, throughput, response time and optimized load capacity as well as related security and risk management committees to establish program health, address risks, and continuously supplement the value and health of the program. Previously, Clerici served as the cyber security practice director for Arraya Solutions, where he built the line of business responsible for providing cyber security consulting, solutions and managed services to customers across various industry verticals.  Additionally, he served as a captain in the United States Air Force specializing in cyber warfare and communications for 7 years including assignments in the United States, Korea, Qatar and Afghanistan.  His awards and decorations include the bronze star medal, air force commendation medal, and air force achievement medal.

    John-Thomas Gaietto has nearly 20 years of experience providing enterprise information security and risk management services to a variety of organizations, with a focus on the financial services industry. He has a proven track record of collaborating with senior leadership to improve productivity and business alignment while maintaining security and regulatory compliance.  JT’s vast expertise includes developing security strategies based on organizational risk, oversight of security operations, incident response, third-party risk management, disaster recovery, building and leading high-performing Information Security teams, and government due diligence oversight.     Leslie has more than 30 years of experience in information technology with 20 years being in the mortgage industry. In her current role, Leslie manages strategic relationships with mortgage industry technology providers (LOS, PPE, POS) and MGIC customers, looking for strategic opportunities to further integrate and automate loan manufacturing workflow activities. Leslie’s involvement in MISMO dates back to the earliest renditions and is now focused on promoting enhancements to MISMO standards to facilitate the evolution of technological advances in our industry through APIs.

He previously served as a Senior Legislative Officer for Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs at the U.S. Department of Labor during the George H.W. Bush administration.

    Pete Mills is Senior Vice President of Residential Policy and Member Engagement at the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA). In this position, he leads MBA's residential policy team and state and local advocacy program, and directs MBA's residential member engagement efforts across the MBA value platform.  Mills is an experienced financial services industry executive with more than 30 years of expertise in public affairs, government relations, public policy and research, all in the housing and mortgage finance arena. Prior to joining MBA, he served as Managing Director and co-founder of the Community Mortgage Banking Project, a public policy organization that represented the interests of companies and coalitions involved in the housing and mortgage finance industries.  During his career, Mills lead corporate public affairs for Countrywide Financial, managed trade association policy advocacy for the California Mortgage Bankers Association and the California Association of Realtors, and conducted housing policy research at the Federal Reserve Board. He has a BA in Economics from the University of California at Berkeley, where he graduated with distinction in 1982.

    Kevin Palmer, Senior Vice President, Single-Family Portfolio Management, Freddie Mac

    Kevin Palmer is senior vice president for Single-Family Portfolio Management. He is a member of Freddie Mac’s management committee and reports to Dave Lowman, executive vice president of the Single-Family business.  As head of Single-Family Portfolio Management, Mr. Palmer has broad responsibility for the Single-Family portfolio, including Freddie Mac's guarantee book of business, pricing and analytics, servicing and REO. He also leads Single-Family Credit Risk Transfer (CRT), including Freddie Mac STACR® securitizations, ACIS® reinsurance, Whole Loan SecuritiesSM and front-end risk transfer offerings.  Since 2001, he has served in a variety of other positions at Freddie Mac, including whole loan trading, managing the non-agency ABS portfolio and risk management.

    Scott Happ, Chief Executive Officer, Optimal Blue

    Scott Happ has thirty years of experience in financial services and mortgage lending technology. He founded Mortgagebot in 1997 and built the company into a nationally recognized SaaS solutions provider, selling the company to D+H in 2011. In 2016, Scott teamed with GTCR, a leading private equity firm, to acquire Optimal Blue, where he serves as CEO.

    Angel Hernandez, Director, MBS Policy and Program Development, Ginnie Mae

    Angel R. Hernandez was appointed to Ginnie Mae as a Presidential Management Fellow in 2015.  In his present role, Angel’s responsibilities include the development of the policy and regulatory framework governing Ginnie Mae’s Mortgage-Backed Securities Program, the implementation of enterprise strategic initiatives, as well as the incorporation of new technology, including digital mortgage solutions.  Angel holds a Juris Doctor degree and a securities law certificate from the Catholic University of America.  In 2017, Secretary Ben Carson recognized Angel with both, HUD’s Employee of the Year Award and HUD’s Community Service Award

    Steve Pawlowski, Senior Vice President, Single-Family Digital Products, Capital Markets, Fannie Mae

    Steve Pawlowski is the Senior Vice President, Head of Capital Market Journey in the Single Family Digital Products organization. Steve leads product development for the conduit & capital markets business and responsible for providing execution tools, business solutions, and services through customer engagement, design thinking, innovation and agile delivery.  Previously, Steve was responsible for leading the ongoing strategic evolution of the Customer Engagement business and the overall management of customer-facing solutions such as Desktop Underwriter, activities associated with the company’s mortgage products, and the development of servicing solutions for the market.

    Charles E. Epperson is the Chief Technology Officer for SigniaDocs/Evolve Mortgage Services formally MRN3 Family of Companies which includes Evolve Mortgage Services, SigniaDocuments and DepotPoint.  He has over 25 years of Information Systems and IT management experience in the areas of operations, programming, business analysis, software design and development, and electronic commerce and eMortgage technologies / implementation.  Charles joined the Evolve Family in 2009 after 10 years spent with Stewart Title in the leadership role of eMortgage technology and development.  He received his M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 1999.  In his current position, he is active in the research, development and implementation of paperless real estate transactions, electronic intelligent document production, electronic mortgage transactions and e-closings utilizing enforceable electronic document, digital signatures, electronic storage, delivery, and the use of secure virtual transaction folders for all real estate transaction participants. In cooperation with the Property Records Industry Association (PRIA) and the Mortgage Industry Standards Maintenance Organization (MISMO) Technology Workgroups, Charles has co-authored many real-estate industry national data standards, including the MISMO Title Insurance Request/Response, Multiple Services, and the PRIA Electronic Recording/Request/Response/SOAP XML DTDs and Schemas.  Likewise, he is actively working on industry standards for electronic mortgage transactions and XHTML SMART® Doc documents as well as various business and technologies for the county and municipal courts and recorders/clerks offices. In addition, Charles maintains leadership positions in many of the industry committees, workgroups and organizations.  He serves as the Chair of MISMO Education & MISMO Board ex-officio, Member of the MISMO Business Executive Team, Chair of the Verifiable SMART®Doc Profile workgroup for MISMO, a member of the Council of Chairs for MISMO, Past-Chair of the Title Community of Practice, Past-Chair of the Document Custody Workgroup, and a member of the ALTA Technology Committee.  He has also been elected to the Board of Directors and is currently on the Council of Advisors for PRIA, MISMO Residential Standards Governance Committee, and recognized as a “Technology All-Star” for Mortgage Banking Magazine in 2009.

    Camelia Martin, Managing Director, Digital Mortgage Advisory, Falcon Capital Advisors

    Camelia Martin has over 15 years of experience in mortgage finance technology services. She leads Falcon Capital Advisors’ Digital Mortgage Advisory Group and works with all types of mortgage industry participants to facilitate their digital mortgage adoption efforts. Martin is regarded as a leading subject matter expert in the implementation of digital mortgage closings and electronic promissory notes (eNotes). Her experience includes industry-wide initiatives which have directly supported digital mortgage acceptance programs for key participants such as Ginnie Mae and the Federal Home Loan Banks.  Martin has a proven track record for executing strategic, mission-critical initiatives at the enterprise level. She combines a unique cross-section of experience in operations, compliance, risk management, process reengineering and project management. Prior to joining Falcon Capital Advisors, Martin held various senior-level positions in the legal, risk and operations departments at MERSCORP Holdings, Inc. During this time, she led the integration of hundreds of participants onto the mortgage loan registries, the launch of new product offerings and the automation of multiple internal business processes. Martin holds a bachelor’s degree from George Mason University and maintains a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

    Matt Seu, Partner, Actualize Consulting

    Mr. Seu is one of two Partners with Actualize Consulting, focusing on Mortgage and Fixed Income Securitization as well as Information Technology. He is responsible for managing the firm’s accounts with focus on the GSEs, mortgage companies, Wall Street broker dealers, software companies supporting the fixed income and mortgage conduit arena, and all MISMO service and technology offerings. He is the chair of the MISMO Strategic Planning Committee. Prior to Actualize Consulting, he served as a Vice President for Freddie Mac where he focused on large scale business and technology change efforts. Mr. Seu was responsible for redesigning a significant portion of Freddie Mac's Single Family and Structured Finance operational infrastructure. In addition, he also served as head of the corporate Enterprise Data Program where he was responsible for all data management and data governance activities across the companies. His Enterprise Data function also included all systems integration and platform strategies including outsourced hosting, alternative data centers, and disaster recovery.
