Get involved with MAA to play an active role in how laws and regulations that affect the industry and consumers are created and carried out by lobbying and building relationships with policymakers. It only takes a moment to get started, and you do not have to be a member of MBA to enroll.

Legislative Updates from the Mortgage Action Alliance

Last week, Senate Republicans released the HEALS Act - an additional COVID-19 relief package that includes direct stimulus payments and updates to the SBA's Payment Protection Program. While the bill's introduction marked a major heating up of negotiations on the next stimulus deal, the two sides were unable to come to an agreement on a short-term extension of CARES Act enhanced unemployment benefits, which expired on Friday at midnight.
This week, the House is in recess but remains ready to return to Washington on 24 hours' notice, and the Senate is theoretically teed up to take up a negotiated package if an agreement can be reached between congressional leaders and the administration.
