The Mortgage Bankers Association Political Action Committee (MORPAC) today awarded Eddy Perez, CMB, President and CEO of EPM, with the 2022 Schumacher-Bolduc Award. The award was presented to Perez here at MBA’s 2022 Annual Convention & Expo in recognition of his extraordinary work on behalf of MBA's political advocacy programs and the entire real estate finance industry.

“Eddy is a true champion of MORPAC and continues to be a strong advocate of advancing favorable policy outcomes on behalf of the real estate finance industry, including during his time as MORPAC Chairman in the 2020 election cycle,” said Matt Rocco, 2023 MBA Chairman, and Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Grandbridge Real Estate Capital. “In addition to MORPAC, Eddy has spent many years as a valued MBA leader, serving on numerous committees, councils, and its Board of Directors. I am honored to present Eddy with this prestigious award, and I look forward to seeing him continue his commitment to making a difference for our industry.”

Perez has been a top MORPAC contributor for nearly a decade. His company has been an MBA advocacy program leader, consistently at 100% employee participation in the Mortgage Action Alliance (MAA) and raising another $140,000 in voluntary contributions from eligible EPM employees during their 2022 campaign. Under his leadership in 2020, MORPAC set single-cycle and single-year fundraising records, with over $2.6 million raised in the 2019-2020 fundraising cycle ($1.6 million raised in 2020 alone). Additionally, 14 new MBA member companies ran campaigns and four companies raised over $80,000, including two companies that raised over $100,000. These efforts expanded the grassroots network of individual donors to MORPAC, raising $350,000 from over 1,000 new donors in 2020.

The Schumacher-Bolduc Award is named after MORPAC founder Ernest P. Schumacher and Mark P. Bolduc, one of MORPAC’s first Directors. It’s awarded to individuals who exemplify MORPAC’s mission and display commitment to expanding the reach of MBA’s political advocacy efforts.
