MISMO Introduces New API Toolkit Updates to Enhance Efficiency Across the Mortgage Finance Industry

WASHINGTON, D.C. (February 22, 2023) – MISMO®, the real estate finance industry's standards organization, today announced the release of the MISMO API Toolkit Version 1.1, which includes updates to enhance efficiency in the development of new technologies to benefit the mortgage finance industry.
“We are pleased to introduce this updated toolkit, which resulted from feedback we received from MISMO members,” said Jan Davis, Acting President of MISMO. “This effort further enables the exchange of information through standardized APIs to increase efficiency and reduce costs for industry participants.”
The API Toolkit helps to facilitate rapid development of new products and applications across the mortgage industry. The MISMO API Toolkit Version 1.1 changes include:
- Implementation Guide
- Added additional detail to cover the hierarchy flattening rules
- Expanded the Cardinality Rule section
- Added guidance on using custom data types
- MISMO Engineering Guidelines (MEG 0045) Representing MISMO Data Structures as Objects in an API Environment
- Added directions for enclosing enumeration values in double quotes
- Updated the metadata values to correct data types that are invalid in Open API 3.0
- Enhancements for clarity from the previous version
