MBA understands the impact that the COVID-19 virus is having on the operations of our member companies. They are working hard to provide the best service to customers while keeping up with unprecedented demand. We have provided the following resources to share with consumers. 

NEW Consumer Resources (Added 11/10): MBA, along with a broad coalition of financial services stakeholders - including mortgage servicers, trade associations, housing counseling agencies, governmental agencies, and think tanks - launched a consumer awareness campaign to reach borrowers who have missed one or more mortgage payments as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and may be eligible for forbearance assistance under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act or other forms of mortgage payment relief. Get the ads.   

MBA also offers a variety of consumer-focused resources to its members.

More Resources to Share with Consumers

MBA launched a resource page covering options for homeowners facing financial hardships - including questions to ask their servicer. We encourage you to share this with your customers.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) has developed a blog post and a short video designed to help mortgage borrowers affected by the coronavirus and let them know what they can expect when they seek help from their servicers. 

Fannie Mae has launched a consumer-facing campaign called "Here to Help" which contains some useful resources.

On April 14, HUD and the CFPB partnered to create a video to educate consumers who may have difficulty making on-time mortgage payments due to the coronavirus emergency.

Several agencies collaborated to publish this borrower-facing CARES Act forbearance Fact Sheet.

HUD has published a Fraud Bulletin for borrowers, to warn about post-CARES Act frauds and scams.
