MBA's New Mexico Ambassador
Alan R. Fowler, CMB, is the Executive Vice President and Director of Education for First Mortgage Company, LLC and is also the founder of Fowler Financial Education and Consulting, LLC. Previously, Alan was President of Suburban Mortgage Company of New Mexico with positions in servicing, production and secondary marketing before becoming President in 1999.
Mr. Fowler is a 1989 graduate of MBA's School of Mortgage Banking and attained the Certified Mortgage Banker (CMB) designation in 1996. He has a BBA in Finance from the University of New Mexico.
Mr. Fowler was the 2011 Chairman of the Certified Mortgage Bankers Society of America, and is the Past President of the American Alliance for Loan Management. He was the 2013 President and is a 20-year board member of the New Mexico Mortgage Lenders Association. He is also a past member of the Fannie Mae Mortgage Bankers Advisory Board, Community Lending Roundtable and Secondary Market Advisory Committee, and has served on various MBA committees.
He is a Master Faculty Fellow for MBA's School of Mortgage Banking and is a certified instructor of Realtor Continuing Education for the New Mexico Real Estate Commission. Mr. Fowler is a regular speaker and consultant for organizations such as the Allregs Academy, Bank of America, the Federal Home Loan Bank Board, and the OCC. Alan has provided over 500 hours of SAFE Act training to hundreds of Loan Officers and has trained thousands of mortgage, Real Estate and affiliated industry professionals in the U.S and around the world. Moreover, he has been part of a core group that laid the foundation for a new Mortgage industry in Egypt over the last seven years, and hopes that project can continue in the future.
Mr. Fowler is a past Vice-Chairman of the City of Albuquerque's Affordable Housing Committee and works with several community, tribal and non-profit organizations that provide affordable housing opportunities to under-served populations, acting as a trainer and speaker for home-buyer education programs.
Alan has taught courses on all areas of real estate finance including origination, production operations, mortgage loan products, underwriting, credit scoring, closing, secondary marketing, fraud, regulatory compliance, real estate math, servicing and commercial real estate finance.
Of all Alan's activities and accomplishments, he is most proud of his wife, Heather, and his two children, McKenzie and Collin, as well as his service as Chairman of Copper Ponte Marriage Ministries.
