Washington, DC (June 13, 2002) - The Mortgage Bankers Association of America (MBA) today announced the appointment of Jay Brinkmann as its vice president of research and economics. Brinkmann joined MBA one year ago to head MBA’s commercial and multifamily real estate research efforts. He will now also be responsible for the association’s single-family research activities and provide support for various public policy initiatives -- particularly issues concerning the GSEs, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Brinkmann, a native of New Orleans, holds a Ph.D. in finance from Purdue University and an MBA from Tulane University. Prior to joining MBA, Brinkmann worked in the portfolio strategy group of Fannie Mae on risk-based capital and other regulatory issues. He has also previously held positions as the deputy chief of staff to Louisiana Governor David C. Treen, press secretary to then-U.S. Rep. Treen, and as an officer in the commercial division of Premier National Bank in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Brinkmann has also served as a member of the finance faculty of the University of Houston, where he specialized in bank management and regulation issues. Brinkmann and his wife, Nancy, live in Falls Church, Virginia. ### |
