Seasoned mortgage fraud professional with ~25 years of experience including mortgage lenders and servicers, government sponsored entities (GSEs), and mortgage insurers. Current working in CMG Mortgage’s Fraud Investigation Group and Chair of MBA’s Fraud Subcommittee.
Ms. Shuck has dedicated most of her career to the mortgage banking industry, with expertise in the areas of risk management, quality, corporate operations, and internal audit in both publicly traded and privately owned organizations. Ms. Shuck has been in charge of the Risk Management Division for Freedom Mortgage Corporation for the last seventeen years. Throughout her career, Ms. Shuck has promoted best practices in all aspects of mortgage banking and corporate operations, specializing in regulatory, operational, and credit risk, including quality control and ensuring effective, compliant, and sound control environments. She holds both a B.S. and MBA in Business Administration, majoring Finance. She is a graduate of both MBA’s School of Mortgage Banking and Future Leaders Program.
Sean Sowards is Fannie Mae’s Director of Mortgage Fraud Investigations, reporting to the Vice President, Financial Crimes. Mr. Sowards is responsible for overseeing operations of Fannie Mae’s mortgage fraud program and ensuring compliance with Bank Secrecy Act laws and regulations. He also serves as Fannie Mae’s liaison with industry, regulatory, and law enforcement partners with respect to mortgage fraud matters. Before assuming his position with Fannie Mae, Mr. Sowards served 25 years in federal law enforcement, retiring in 2017 as the Director of Field Operations for the Criminal Investigation Division of the Internal Revenue Service. Prior to joining the IRS, he was a Special Agent with the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, Office of Inspector General.
Bill Young is Vice President of Product Operations at CSBS. He is responsible for the operational implementation and ongoing maintenance of the NMLS program and business operations. He works with state and federal regulatory stakeholders, as well as industry licensees, to incorporate work processes and practices that support the strategic objectives of CSBS and its membership. Prior to joining CSBS in 2017, Bill spent more than twenty years at Freddie Mac and five years in government contracting at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and the Federal Financing Bank (FFB). Throughout his career he has worked with federal agencies such as the FBI, CFPB, HUD, FHA, OFHEO and GAO. Bill has a B.S. in Management from Tulane University.
