Daniel P. Thomas

Daniel Thomas joined MIAC in 1998. He is primarily responsible for the commercial and residential servicing and whole loan transaction business of the firm as well as overall sales and strategic business development. He is a senior member of the MIAC Valuation Committee, which has oversight of the MIAC’s valuation methodology and assumption discovery process for residential and commercial asset classes. Mr. Thomas is the leading advisor to the commercial mortgage industry on the valuation and sale of commercial mortgage servicing rights. During his tenure at MIAC, Mr. Thomas has sold over $30 billion in commercial and residential mortgage servicing rights and has acted as advisor in the several high-profile commercial mortgage company acquisitions and sales.

Prior to MIAC, Mr. Thomas was one of the founding members of Cohane Rafferty Securities, Inc. (CRSI) one of the largest mortgage brokerage and advisory companies in the United States. From 1985 to 1998, Mr. Thomas helped oversee the sale of several trillion dollars of residential and commercial mortgage servicing rights, as well as several mortgage-banking entities. Mr. Thomas was also a contributing writer on an education book endorsed by the MBA entitled “Mortgage Servicing Portfolios: Strategies & Applications for Buying, Selling and Managing Mortgage Servicing”, Probus Publishing 1991.

From 1983 to 1985 Mr. Thomas worked at Thomson McKinnon Securities as a Vice President in institutional sales. During this period Mr. Thomas primarily work with thrifts and mortgage companies in the purchase and sale of mortgage loans and mortgage servicing rights. Mr. Thomas graduated from Manhattanville College with a BA in Economics in 1981
