Panelists discuss practical methods for maintaining accurate information, integrating key risk indicators into surveillance processes, and ensuring teams have clear, reliable data to support timely decisions across the portfolio.

Jim Schroeder is an executive vice president of debt operations at Walker & Dunlop, based in Needham, Massachusetts. In his role, he is responsible for overseeing underwriting, closing, and servicing & asset management operations, ensuring efficient execution and effective credit risk management throughout the lending lifecycle. Schroeder is a member of the company’s executive committee. Before joining Walker & Dunlop he served as senior vice president within the primary loan servicing department at CWCapital, where he was directly responsible for the day-to-day servicing of the company’s $13 billion portfolio. He also served as the company’s primary trader of Ginnie Mae and Fannie Mae securities. Schroeder earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from Bentley College. He is a current member of Freddie Mac’s Asset Management & Operations Advisory Council, has served as lender chair of Fannie Mae’s operations subcommittee, and holds the MBA’s CCMS designation.

As Associate Vice President of Underwriting and Credit Analysis, Brandy Debourse oversees both the underwriting and the credit analysis teams. She is responsible for the oversight of new loan originations and the analysis of the commercial real estate loan portfolio, which includes risk monitoring and processing of servicing transactions including transfers, modifications, assumptions, etc. She has been involved in the commercial real estate industry for over 10 years.
Marc McDevitt is a Director at KBRA on the CMBS Ratings Surveillance team, responsible for evaluating credit risk, transaction surveillance, and monitoring letter ratings for a CMBS portfolio of over $315 billion. Previously, Marc was part of the leadership team for KBRA Credit Profile (KCP), a monthly subscription platform that provides timely credit analysis, valuations, and loss projections for the CMBS universe. Prior to joining KBRA, Marc served as an operating advisor for CMBS securitizations and held positions at BNY Mellon and PNC Bank. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master of Business Administration from Villanova University.
Steve Parker joined Newmark in 2017 and serves as Managing Director, Asset Management, in the Lower Gwynedd, Pennsylvania office. With over 15 years of professional experience, Parker is well-versed in Asset Management, Surveillance, Portfolio Management, Property Inspections, Servicing Operations, Offshore Platform Development, and Process Improvements. He possesses comprehensive expertise across a range of product types, including Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, Life Company, CMBS, Construction, and HUD. In his role, Parker oversees multiple asset management and servicing groups, including Portfolio Management, Financial Analysis, Trigger Analysis, and Loan Surveillance, for a $70 billion portfolio comprising approximately 3,900 loans. He also manages several functions executed by the offshore platform, which he played a key role in implementing in 2020. Additionally, Parker is a member of Servicing’s Risk Committee and is responsible for reviewing and approving all Broker’s Opinion of Value (BOV) reports for underperforming assets, ensuring accuracy and insight. Additionally, Parker reviews and approves comprehensive loss estimates on Credit Risk loans and actively participates in monthly credit and portfolio risk meetings, contributing to strategic decision-making and risk management. Parker has overseen a wide range of servicing and asset management teams throughout his career, with a focus on Risk Management, Portfolio Management, and Surveillance. He brings valuable rating agency experience from his time at Kroll Bond Rating Agency as part of the CMBS Subscription Team. He also spent several years at Berkadia Commercial Mortgage, where he gained extensive experience in both the Client Relations and Surveillance departments. Additionally, Parker is actively involved with the Mortgage Bankers Association, has served as a panel speaker, and is a member of the Mortgage Bankers Association Future Leader Alumni.
