Advocacy in August
August Is for Action!
MAA's Advocacy in August Campaign is a national industry effort that builds and strengthens existing relationships during the Congressional August Recess. As lawmakers prepare for the August recess, we encourage you to take advantage of this key window to engage with your elected officials while they are back in their states and districts. Advocacy in August is one of the most effective ways to strengthen relationships with members of Congress by:
- Meeting with your elected officials, either in-person or virtually. We will assist with scheduling, provide background materials, and help ensure a successful visit.
- Hosting a site visit or roundtable to give lawmakers a firsthand look at your business, your employees, and the role mortgage bankers play in supporting local economies and housing markets.

Notable 2025 Meetings:
In 2025, we coordinated eight in-state, in-person, and virtual meetings for advocates, providing roughly 40 participants with background resources and pre-meeting preparation tools. Participation in these meetings is essential to our advocacy efforts as MAA members build and strengthen relationships with policymakers by sharing stories and educating elected officials on issues affecting our industry.
