Zachary Best

Partner Relman Colfax PLLC

Zachary Best is a Partner at Relman Colfax, where he practices in both the civil rights counseling and litigation groups. Since joining the firm in 2020, he has developed a multidisciplinary practice focused on fair lending, fair housing, and consumer protection. In his counseling work, Zachary advises lenders, fintech companies, and online platforms on best practices for complying with federal and state civil rights and consumer protection laws. He works closely with clients to evaluate policies, practices, and statistical models for potential risks and provides practical guidance on mitigating those risks while expanding equitable access to financial products and services for historically underserved communities. Zachary’s litigation practice centers on high-impact fair lending and fair housing matters. He is currently part of a team challenging a predatory and discriminatory rent-to-own housing program in Indianapolis, alleging violations of the Equal Credit Opportunity Act, Fair Housing Act, Truth in Lending Act, and state consumer protection laws. He also contributes to litigation, addressing regulatory changes that could weaken protections against disparate impact under the Fair Housing Act. Prior to Relman Colfax, Zachary practiced at Hogan Lovells LLP and clerked for Judge Michael P. Shea.
