Eric Dickerson

Eric Dickerson was selected second overall in the 1983 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams. His rookie season was marked by remarkable achievements, as he established rookie records for most rushing attempts (390), most rushing yards gained (1,808), and most touchdowns rushing (18), including two receiving touchdowns. These accolades earned him All-Pro, Pro Bowl, Player of the Year, and Rookie of the Year honors. In his second season, Dickerson continued his dominance, becoming a member of the 2,000 rushing yards club. He amassed 12 rushing touchdowns in 1984, surpassing O.J. Simpson’s record of 100-yard rushing games in a season. Dickerson’s 2,105 total rushing yards surpassed Simpson’s 1973 NFL season record of 2,003 yards, a record that remains unbroken to this day. Dickerson retired from the NFL as the second-leading rusher of all time and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1999. He will be inducted into the College Hall of Fame in 2021 for SMU. Currently, Eric Dickerson is employed by the Los Angeles Rams and iHeart Radio. In addition to his professional career, he and his wife, Penny, have established a partnership with Hope for Housing to provide after-school learning centers for low-income families.
