About the Event

Multifamily Underwriting & Investment Analysis is designed to provide participants with a practical understanding of the analytical concepts used in underwriting and evaluating multifamily real estate investments. This course builds and strengthens skills in multifamily income analysis, valuation, and risk assessment from a lender, servicer and investor perspective.

The course begins with Multifamily Fundamentals, introducing participants to common multifamily property types, market characteristics, and the factors that influence property performance. Participants then move into Deriving Multifamily Income and Expenses, where they learn how rental income, ancillary income, and operating expenses are analyzed, normalized, and projected.

In Multifamily Valuation, participants apply income capitalization techniques to estimate property value, including the development of net operating income and the use of capitalization rates. The course concludes with Multifamily Lending Risks and Risk Mitigants, focusing on the risks inherent in multifamily lending and investment. Participants examine common credit, market, operational, and structural risks and learn how lenders evaluate and mitigate these risks when underwriting a multifamily loan.
