FAIR LENDING TRACK: LEP Business Opportunities
The evolving socio demographic makeup of the country reflects Latino household formation and population growth far exceeds the average, eclipsed only by multiracial households, while the non-Hispanic white population has declined by 3% over the last decade. The regulatory landscape is responding, evidenced by the expanded race and ethnicity (“disaggregated”) HMDA dataset, FHFA’s requirements to ask consumers their language preference and to transmit the data. This panel shares practical tips to navigate this evolving landscape and capture market share.

Dave Rosamond is an Executive Director and Assistant General Counsel with JPMorgan Chase. Since 1997, Dave has supported a number of Chase business lines, such as Tax Related Lending, Home Lending and Vehicle Finance. Dave is now a member of Chase’s Alternative Data, Predictive Analytics and Fair Lending team, providing support on fair lending, the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, the Community Reinvestment Act, federal preemption, and other issues. Since 2004, Dave has also focused on issues related to limited English proficient consumers, and helped create Chase’s policies on language access. Dave is based in Chase’s Tampa, Florida office, and a member of both the Ohio and Florida Bar.

Arlyn J Kalinski is the head of the LEP program and along with her team, they develop compliance solutions to ensure Guaranteed Rate’s operational accountability by fulfilling legal requirements and mitigating risks within the language access space. Arlyn is the executive co-sponsor and implementation owner of Guaranteed Rate’s (GR) Language Access Program. Prior to joining Guaranteed Rate, Arlyn spent 17 years working in the financial services industry with PNC Bank and Bank of America. She has held numerous leadership roles spanning multiple lines of business to include, Risk Operations, Compliance, Originations, Loss Mitigation, Foreclosure and REO. Currently finalizing her Ph.D. where she will defend her dissertation “How cultural identity influences biliteracy and bilingualism."
Lonzo is a mortgage professional with over a decade of unique experience and an implementor of CrossCountry Mortgage, LLC compliance management system. He uniquely blends his past sales experience as a Licensed Loan Originator and trainer to Originators to bridge the gap in regulatory compliance with the expressed intention to connect and from that connection, transformation. Lonzo is a firm believer that compliance is a competitive advantage. He brings information and inspiration to mortgage compliance. He's passionate about automating success and eliminating opportunities to fail Federal and State laws. He's key in launching the LEP program at CrossCountry Mortgage.
Joshua Weinberg is a nationally recognized speaker, author, consultant, and leader in the mortgage industry. He is the President of Firstline Compliance, a consulting company specializing in mortgage compliance and technology. He works closely with Federal and State Regulators and participates with many industry associations. He currently leads MBA’s LEP Working Group and is the past Chair of MBA’s Regulatory Compliance Committee, a member of ABA’s Residential Markets Committee, and Past Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors for MISMO.
