MBA Education Policies

General Policy

All requests must be submitted by email (education@mba.org). If you have questions or concerns, please contact us by phone at (800) 793-6222, select option 2 (Monday-Friday, 9:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. ET) or by email.

Definition of terms:

Course transfer: moving your registration in a particular course to the same course, offered in a different location and/or at a later date.

Course substitution: passing your course registration to a colleague within your company, so they may attend the original course in your place.

Registration cancellation: complete annulment of your original registration.

Instructor Led Courses Policy (In-Person Classroom courses, Workshops, IGOLs)

The registration cancellation, transfer and substitution schedule is the following:

Cancellation, transfer, or substitution requests  received 30 days before the event start date: $50 processing fee and no additional cost incurred.
Cancellation, transfer, or substitution requests received between 8-29 days before the event start date: To process any of these requests, the student will pay either a $50 or $100 processing fee. In the event of a cancellation, the student will pay a $50 processing fee, be refunded 50% of their original registration price, and MBA Education will retain the other 50%. In the event of a transfer, the student will pay a $50 processing fee, MBA Education will retain 50% of the registration price, the remaining 50% will be applied as a credit to the newly selected course, and finally, the student will need to pay the remaining 50% of the registration price for the newly selected course. In the event of a substitution, the substituted student will pay a $100 processing fee.  
Cancellation, transfer, or substitution requests received 7 days or less before the event start date: No refund or transfer allowed.

Please note:

  • You may only transfer your enrollment one time.
  • Onsite substitutions are not permitted.
  • MBA Education recommends you wait until after you receive our registration confirmation email before you make any travel arrangements. MBA assumes no liability for any penalty fees on airline tickets, deposits for hotel accommodations, or any other fees, charges, penalties, or other incidental costs that a registrant might incur.

Self-study Courses

A web-based course can be cancelled within 30 days of enrollment if the student has not completed any quizzes or submitted the examination for grading. Requests for cancellation will incur a $50 cancellation fee and must be submitted by email.

Webinars

A webinar registration may be cancelled up until 9 am on the date of the webinar. Requests for cancellation will incur a $50 cancellation fee and must be submitted by email.

Please note:
The individual who purchases the webinar registration is the site owner of the webinar which means they must be the person who logs in to participate. Participants may not broadly share registration information (including confirmation emails, website links to webinars, and conference line information) with those who have not purchased the webinar. Please see our Pilfering Policy listed below for more information. 

Classroom Program Cancellations by MBA (In-Person Classroom Courses, IGOLs, Webinars)

In the event of program cancellation by the Mortgage Bankers Association, MBA Education will refund 100 percent of registration fees paid. MBA Education assumes no liability for any penalty fees on airline tickets, deposits for hotel accommodations or any other fees, charges, penalties or other incidental costs that a registrant might incur as a consequence of a program cancellation.

Certificates/Designations

Please consult with the Designation Program Director (Amber Lawrence, Associate Director, Education Operations & Programming, alawrence@mba.org) prior to enrollment in this program to determine eligibility and requirements for certificate and designation programs.

MBA’s programs do not provide "certification" in any area of mortgage banking. To that point, MBA Education's Professional and Specialist Designations provide an individual with a method to receive recognition for educational accomplishments. 

The cost of courses is not included in the enrollment fee unless specified. Certificate and designation enrollments fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Pilfering Policy

Most programs do not allow sharing per site. Individual site owners who purchase course offerings (IGOLs, webinars, self-study courses) are the only participants allowed to access all course content; no sharing is permissible.

If you are caught pilfering (such as sharing your site or illegally entering the site without proper registration) during a webinar, live conference, IGOL, or self-study course, MBA Education reserves the right to charge you an additional $249 pilfering fee on top of the registration fee of the individual program.
