Robert D. Broeksmit, CMB, is MBA’s President and Chief Executive Officer. He is a senior finance executive and corporate officer with over 30 years of experience in the mortgage sector. He has directed all aspects of lending activities, including marketing, sales, operations, secondary marketing, loan servicing, and default management. He has also served as a mortgage underwriting expert testifying on many large, high-profile cases. Prior to joining MBA, Broeksmit served as President and Chief Operating Officer with Treliant, heading the firm’s mortgage litigation support practice. He previously held senior leadership positions in the mortgage business, including 14 years with Chevy Chase Bank (including after its purchase by Capital One) and 7 years as Vice President at Prudential Home Mortgage. He has overseen annual originations of $9 billion, a balance sheet of $10 billion in residential mortgage, and a servicing portfolio of $20 billion. He is past Chairman of MBA’s Residential Board of Governors and a member of its Board of Directors.

Mark Jones is the 2024 MBA Chairman and President of Union Home Mortgage. He and his business partner co-founded Amerifirst Home Mortgage in 1983, a company he grew from an individual location in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to over 80 full-service locations and 900 personnel nationwide. In January 2023, Amerifirst merged with Union Home Mortgage to form a top 40 national mortgage lender. An advocate for affordable homeownership with a mission to make a meaningful difference, Amerifirst established a new bilingual mortgage services division to meet the growing needs of the Hispanic community. Amerifirst was named one of the “Fastest Growing Private Companies in America” by Inc. 5000 for six consecutive years; a Best & Brightest Company to Work For (2016–2020), and one of the top 50 Best Mortgage Companies to Work For in 2021. Jones has also served as the chair of MBA’s Audit and Finance Committee and co-chair of MBA’s IMB Executive Council. Outside of MBA, Jones is a current board member and Public Policy Committee Chair at Southwest Michigan First and serves as Chairman of Southwest Michigan First PAC. Mark holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Management from Virginia Commonwealth University.

John Coleman represents banks, nonbank financial institutions, corporations and individuals in supervisory and enforcement matters initiated by government regulators, as well as in private civil litigation and internal investigations. He also counsels clients on compliance with consumer protection laws and supervision preparedness. Prior to joining Orrick, John was a partner at Buckley LLP, which he joined after 15 years in federal government service as a litigator and advisor to senior policymakers, most recently as Deputy General Counsel for Litigation and Oversight at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. He joined the CFPB soon after its creation in 2010 and was one of a core group of attorneys tasked with interpreting the authorities granted to the agency by the Consumer Financial Protection Act of 2010 and establishing the procedures by which the agency exercises those authorities. He was the first person to appear in court on behalf of the CFPB and was involved in every significant litigation matter in the agency’s history prior to his departure. As Deputy General Counsel, he managed the team of attorneys responsible for representing the Bureau in litigation, including appellate matters, and before congressional oversight bodies.
Robert represents financial institutions and mortgage companies across the United States. He has handled matters both at the pre-litigation and initial complaint filing phase as well as being employed during discovery, to depose expert witnesses and at the pre-trial phase to assist the current counsel. On the compliance side, Robert has worked with both legal and business managers for multiple clients to draft and outline procedures in response to pending or new legislation. Robert is a regular speaker at national industry conferences. He is Faculty Fellow with MBA’s School of Mortgage Banking. Robert is an adjunct professor at the Cumberland School of Law and was previously an adjunct professor at the University of Alabama School of Law and the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Andrea K. Mitchell is the Managing Partner and a founding member of Mitchell Sandler LLC. Ms. Mitchell is a nationally recognized adviser to banks, mortgage companies and third-party service providers on enforcement and regulatory compliance matters. She frequently advises clients on compliance issues, supervisory appeals, merger and acquisition strategy, compliance management systems, and examination management. Chambers USA has named Ms. Mitchell a Recognized Practitioner in the area of Financial Services Regulation: Consumer Finance (Compliance). She has also been recognized by Legal 500, Best Lawyers and Super Lawyers. She is a Fellow of the American College of Consumer Financial Services Lawyers.
Nanci Weissgold co-chairs Alston & Bird's Financial Services & Products Group. She maintains a national regulatory compliance practice representing consumer financial products and services providers on federal, state, and agency requirements, including valuation and mortgage lending and servicing. Her pragmatism preparing for, and responding to, CFPB, FHA, state, and other administrative actions is highly valued by her clients.
