Meeting Frequency: The Council convenes two to three times annually, meeting in person during key MBA events such as the MBA's CREF Convention & Expo and MBA's CRE Servicing Solutions Conference (formerly known as MBA's CREF Servicing & Technology Conference), as well as through virtual sessions focused on timely technology topics.

What You Missed – The CREF Technology Council convened on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, to discuss the evolving role of artificial intelligence across commercial real estate finance and servicing operations. The meeting featured Advocate Technologies, which shared how it is building AI-native infrastructure to support complex insurance compliance reviews in commercial loan servicing.

The conversation focused on how organizations are approaching AI implementation, integrating software logic with AI-driven processes, and balancing automation with human oversight in highly regulated servicing environments. Attendees also heard perspectives on the long-term operational and infrastructure considerations involved in developing scalable AI systems for the CRE industry.

The next meeting of the CREF Technology Council will be held on Tuesday, May 19, where the conversation will continue at the CRE Servicing Solutions Conference in San Diego with CRE Tech Talk: Technology in Action, hosted by the CREF Technology Council. This interactive session will bring together servicing and technology professionals for a practical discussion on how firms are evaluating, implementing, and operationalizing emerging technologies across CRE servicing platforms and operations.

The session will explore the evolving intersection of AI, automation, workflow strategy, and operational efficiency, with an emphasis on real-world applications, implementation challenges, and the decisions firms are making today to prepare for tomorrow’s servicing environment. Attendees can expect an open exchange of ideas, operational perspectives, and technology-driven strategies shaping the future of the industry.
