FHA Multifamily Council

MBA’s FHA Multifamily Council provides a forum for identifying and discussing issues facing FHA MAP lenders, focusing on the production of FHA multifamily and healthcare loans. The committee is open to anyone who participates in FHA loan programs and actively acts as a forum to discuss regulatory and policy directives from HUD. The FHA Committee meets monthly.

Meeting Frequency: The Council meets virtually on the 2nd Tuesday of every month from 11:30am – 12:30pm Eastern time. The council meets in person at the CREF conference annually. The council also coordinates two in-person FHA roundtables per year in Washington, DC, featuring discussions with HUD leadership from the offices of multifamily housing and residential care facilities. These meetings are limited to MAP lenders, with a maximum of 2 per organization.

What You Missed – The FHA Multifamily Council convened on Tuesday, May 12, to discuss the recently published environmental rule, which includes many positive changes.

The Council is still working towards additional changes on migratory birds, choice limiting actions, and the 200-unit CPD review threshold (this was subsequently published by HUD). HUD is working on changes to the loan disbursements policy, and we still expect the efficiencies letter to be finalized soon.  A ORCF notice is expected soon on the 3 year rule and bathroom requirements. They are providing waivers, but suggest submitting through LEAN thinking first.

The next meeting of the FHA Multifamily Council will be held on Tuesday, June 11, at 11:30 AM ET. For additional information or interest in participating, contact Megan Booth at [email protected].
