Washington D.C. (June 18, 2026) – The MBA Opens Doors Foundation (Opens Doors) today that the foundation has now provided mortgage and rental payment assistance to 20,000 families since its founding in 2011.

The milestone reflects the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to easing the financial burden faced by families caring for a child undergoing medical treatment. By helping cover housing payments during a time of crisis, MBA Opens Doors enables parents and caregivers to focus on what matters most—the health and recovery of their child.

“Opens Doors has now delivered mortgage and rental assistance to more than 20,000 families – a milestone we are deeply proud of,” said Debra W. Still, former Vice Chair of Pulte Financial and Chair of the MBA Opens Doors Foundation. “This achievement reflects the unwavering commitment of the real estate finance industry to a simple but powerful goal: ensuring that families caring for critically ill or injured children can remain stably housed during their most difficult moments. Because of this sustained support, thousands of families have been able to focus on their children’s care, not the fear of losing their home – and that is the real measure of impact.”

Founded in 2011, the Foundation began its Home Grant Program the following year with a single hospital partner, Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C., providing 37 mortgage payment grants to families facing financial hardship while caring for a seriously ill child. Since then, the Foundation has grown significantly, distributing more than $31 million in housing assistance and expanding its network to 14 children's hospital partners across nine states and the District of Columbia. The Foundation provides grants of up to $2,000 made monthly to families with a child in treatment at one of the Foundation’s network children’s hospitals.

“It is a privilege to lead a Foundation whose sole mission to make sure that families caring for a critically ill or injured child can stay in their homes while their child is in treatment,” said Deborah Dubois, President of the MBA Opens Doors Foundation. “To have helped more than 20,000 families with more than $31 million in housing assistance in a relatively short period of time is a reflection not just of the work we do every day but of the people who serve on our board and the thousands of donors who make it possible.”
