Mónica Mancilla Cooke Joins MBA as Vice President of Human Resources

WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 23, 2026) - The Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) announced today that Mónica Mancilla Cooke has joined the association as Vice President of Human Resources.

Mancilla Cooke has more than 15 years of experience leading human resources strategies at national trade associations, serving as a trusted advisor to CEOs, executive leadership teams, and board committees. She will lead MBA's human resources team and support the association's employees through hiring, professional development, performance management, compensation and benefits, employee relations, compliance, and organizational planning.

 “Mónica has spent her career helping mission-driven associations build strong teams and develop the talent needed to achieve their goals,” said Peter Grace, Chief Administrative Officer and Senior Vice President of Industry Education and Technology. “Her experience advising executive leadership, strengthening organizations, and investing in employees will be a tremendous asset to MBA as we continue to support our staff, serve our members, and enhance residential and commercial real estate markets.”

Mancilla Cooke joins MBA from the Plastics Industry Association, where she most recently served as Vice President of Human Resources. Prior to that, she was Senior Human Resources Manager at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP and held senior human resources leadership positions at the Information Technology Industry Council and the American Petroleum Institute.

Mancilla Cooke earned her Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management from George Mason University and her Master of Science in Human Resource Management from the University of Maryland Global Campus. She also holds the Senior Certified Professional (SCP) certification with the Society for Human Resource Management.
