About the Event

Property Inspection and Environmental Concerns provides participants with foundational knowledge for reviewing third-party property condition and environmental assessment reports. The course discusses common commercial/multifamily building deficiencies and environmental hazards, and offers tips for conducting effective property inspections and management interviews. Participants will have the opportunity to evaluate photographs of sample physical deficiencies and environmental hazards, identify problem areas, and provide recommendations for remediation. They will also review a sample property condition report and develop a range of questions to ask a property manager. This course also explores key specialty topics, including seismic risk, accessibility compliance (ADA and beyond), and other physical considerations critical to property safety and marketability. Additionally, it addresses climate risk, with a focus on extreme weather events and other natural hazards that can significantly impact commercial real estate investment decisions.
