Desktop Underwriter (DU) is an automated underwriting system developed by Fannie Mae to help mortgage lenders make informed credit decisions on conventional and government loans.

Evaluating Loans with Desktop Underwriter focuses on how Fannie Mae's automated underwriting system can be used to evaluate conventional conforming mortgages with Approve or Refer recommendations. The course begins by describing what loans are eligible for DU evaluation and how to access, navigate, and use DU. It then covers how to interpret underwriting recommendations and review reports accurately. Next, the course reviews DU requirements for credit, liabilities, income and employment, assets, and property. Lastly, the application of DU resubmission guidelines is addressed. A case study at the end of the course provides the opportunity to practice the concepts presented.

This is a single-family/residential course.
