CREF Affordable Council
MBA's Affordable Housing Council provides a forum for identifying and discussing issues affecting affordable housing finance, development, and preservation. The Council is open to MBA members involved in the financing, development, preservation, and operation of affordable housing and serves as a forum to discuss legislative, regulatory, and policy developments, federal housing programs, state and local initiatives, and financing strategies that support affordable housing production and preservation. The Affordable Housing Council meets monthly.

Meeting Frequency: The Council meets virtually on the 2nd Thursday of every month from 2:00pm – 3:00pm Eastern time.
What You Missed – The CREF Affordable Housing Council convened on Thursday, June 11, to discuss affordable housing preservation and recapitalization strategies in today’s financing environment.
Council members heard from representatives of HUD’s West Region and industry practitioners on opportunities and challenges facing affordable housing preservation efforts. Discussion focused on financing tools available to support preservation transactions, recent developments affecting affordable housing finance, and approaches to maintaining and improving existing affordable housing stock.
