MISMO Launches Commercial Green Borrower Questionnaire
MISMO®, the real estate finance industry's standards organization, today announced the availability of its Commercial Green Borrower Questionnaire. This industry resource standardizes questions for commercial lenders to ask borrowers when applying for a commercial mortgage loan. The questionnaire has achieved "Candidate Recommendation" status, which means that it has been thoroughly reviewed by a wide range of organizations and industry participants and is available for use across the industry.
MISMO’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Community of Practice designed these standardized questions to assist lenders in gathering information when originating, underwriting or servicing commercial loans.
“MISMO created this questionnaire by collaborating with commercial lending professionals,” said Seth Appleton, President, MISMO. “The information we collected in this questionnaire will benefit the industry by capturing consistent information in a repeatable format for borrowers and lenders to streamline and improve the due diligence process.”
While the initial focus of the questionnaire is on the green “E” components of borrower and property information, future versions could be expanded to include questions concerning other environmental, social or governance considerations.
