Jim Bopp

MBA's New York Ambassador    

Jim Bopp is the VP of National Renovation Lending at Planet Home Lending, LLC. In this role with Planet Home Lending , Jim is responsible for managing the sales and marketing functions of the Renovation Lending Programs such as the FHA 203(k), VA Alterations and Repair and Conventional Renovation loan programs.   


Prior to joining Planet Home in January 2020, Jim was the National Correspondent Sales Manager for Platinum Home Mortgage Corporation and has also been Vice President & Business Development Officer and Manager of Mortgage Sales for Construction and Renovation Lending at Community Bank, NA. As a 25 year veteran of the banking and mortgage banking industry he has developed a diverse background that includes positions as Collection and Foreclosure Manager, Loan Originator, Branch Manager, and Sales Manager.  He is also knowledgeable and well versed in New Construction and Builder Financing, consumer finance, and home improvement dealer sales.   Jim also has a long history of being active at both State & Local and National level of the Mortgage Bankers Association, having served as President of the MBA of Northeastern New York, and a Board Member and Legislative Chairperson for many years.  Mr. Bopp started and led the Unified New York MBA working group that conducted annual Advocacy Days at the State Capital in Albany for 2 years.  It was this activity and this group that led to the formation of the New York Mortgage Bankers Association (NYMBA) which was incorporated in the fall of 2014, and is recognized by the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) as the statewide trade association for the residential mortgage banking industry in New York.  

At the National level Jim is a current member of the State and Local Regulatory Committee and has been a member of Loan Production Committee and the Renovation Lending Steering Committee.  He is also the 2015 recipient of the prestigious MBA Burton C. Wood Legislative Service Award for his service and commitment to the real estate finance industry.   He is a graduate of Plattsburgh State University of New York, with a B.A. in Economics and Business Management; and Sage College of Albany, where he obtained an AAS in Marketing and Retailing.  Jim lives in Brunswick NY with his wife Jane, son Iain and daughter Amanda.
